I like this piece.

I view it as a satire on our society. And like most satires, it is exaggerated. I'm ok with that.

It explores some common human weaknesses/vices and contrasts heartfelt love with animalistic lust.

Sadly, I think it is supposed to not HAVE an ending in sight.

They are trying to show how devoted they are to this idea.

I bought Girls on the strength of Ultra, but dropped it several months ago. It just seems to not be going anywhere. I assumed that it would be a limited series as it seemed to be a fairly limited concept. How long IS this series supposed to go on for?

Girls seems like such a turnaround from Ultra - maybe because Ultra actually had an ending, and so things had to actually occur? Yes, the characters seemed to move from one bad decision to the next, but that book remained enjoyable to the end. I gave up on Girls a long time ago.

I think it is an attempt at being "different."

I'd add the distinct impression that there won't be any significant payoff to the mysery, but otherwise this describes the book just perfectly.
From this and what I remember of Ultra, I wonder whether the Luna Brothers just failed Protagonism 101 or whether they assume they're writing on the level of Hamlet.
