In SW2 #3, that pimp guy commented on Beyonder’s new appearance, Was it ever explained anywhere why the Beyonder went from his blonde Steve Rogers look to the jheri curl look? I’ve always wondered if there was some deeper reason to it other than the Beyonder just wanting to appear different.

During the Beyonder’s rescue of Talisman in Secret Wars No.4, he also pulled a ring out of the pouch intended as a gift for Dazzler…she didnt want it so he tossed it away…did this ring figure in any other storylines anywhere because I figured that it must have some significance being inside Shaman’s pouch

Not sure what the story is, but about 5 or 6 years ago, the original art for the ENTIRE UNPUBLISHED first issue of Secret Wars II #1, as drawn by Sal Buscema, was up for auction on ebay.

I’m kicking myself now for not saving the images that were displayed with the auction.

I sure wish whoever owns those pieces would be kind enough to scan them and put them up on the web. I remember them looking really good – better than the Milgrom stuff that ended up in the book!

No offense to Milgrom, but the pages did seem rushed…

The entire first issue was pencilled by Sal Buscema, but for whatever reason, wasn’t published. The only reason I know this is that the original art for the entire first issue showed up on eBay a few years back. It look incredible – I think this series (as hoky as the writing was at points) would be much more respected today if the whole series looked as good as Sal’s pencils made it look.

No disrespect to Milgrom, but the work does look a bit rushed at points. Sals’s art definitely looked like he put a lot more effort into it – especially backgrounds.

If anyone finds scans or links to the Sal art, please post them!

Does anyone know if Milgrom was a last minute substitute on the series? In one of the back issues I bought recently there was an announcement in the bullpen bulletins about “Secret Wars II” and it said that Sal Buscema would be the artist on it.
