I'm kicking myself now for not saving the images that were displayed with the auction. I sure wish whoever owns those pieces would be kind enough to scan them and put them up on the web. I remember them looking really good - better than the Milgrom stuff that ended up in the book! No offense to Milgrom, but the pages did seem rushed... Not sure what the story is, but about 5 or 6 years ago, the original art for the ENTIRE UNPUBLISHED first issue of Secret Wars II #1, as drawn by Sal Buscema, was up for auction on ebay.

The only reason I know this is that the original art for the entire first issue showed up on eBay a few years back. It look incredible - I think this series (as hoky as the writing was at points) would be much more respected today if the whole series looked as good as Sal's pencils made it look. No disrespect to Milgrom, but the work does look a bit rushed at points. Sals's art definitely looked like he put a lot more effort into it - especially backgrounds.
