Ross – I meant that you come to places like our humble blog and discuss stuff, and you are aggressively getting your name out there with quality books. Occasionally they’re late, but for the most part, it’s a compliment! I like publishers that are willing to engage the readers and do a grass-roots kind of thing instead of overextending themselves, which you have not done, apparently, because the company is doing fine.

Good to know about Hero Squared. That’s probably a smart move.

FYI, HERO SQUARED is schedule for bi-monthly release.

RE: making myself the next Lar, we’re doing full color, individual comics and next month is our one year anniversary and we’ve only put out one trade. Our website has a blog on the side, but it’s not the primary function of the site. So I don’t see the comparison, but to each his own!

Ultimate Extinction was the best mini to come out from either of the Big Two in 2006, far more satisfying than Crisis and House of M.

I think the dialogue was fine for a first issue, because Rand wanted to set the characters up quickly, and he did. I agree that not having one of the main characters be black is a misstep, but I hope that because the Emissary is black that it will come into play at some point. We’ll see.

I wasn’t nearly as impressed with The Emissary as you were — the dialogue felt a little too expository; all tell, too little show — but it certainly does have some potential. Given the premise, I think the biggest opportunity they missed was having a black character as one of the main POVs. And on the nitpicky side, the scale felt off a bit with the F-15s. I’ll be checking out the next issue or two before making a final judgement call.

I agree with you on Middleman, though. Sheer unadulterated, over-the-top fun. I’ll be tracking down the first TPB ASAP. Viper seems to have a knack for nailing the fun stuff, yes?

No one’s commented on these yet, so I’ll just say: these are some awesome books, and people should buy these more and crap from the Big Two less. Come on, like you really need to read another twenty-two pages of Captain America angsting over cyborg Bucky! You know it’s all just gonna end with desperate homoerotic zombie sex anyway!
