I can't care to the Superman II news either. I like it a lot the way it is and I think it's far better than #1 (and that probably has to do with Donbner being fired). Anyway the film will probably go to be 2/3 Lester to be 2/3 Donner so its still not the one Donner wanted to make.

--The Superman II restoration. I am really jazzed for that; it's why we don't own that movie yet. I'm holding out for the restored version and I was delighted to read how MUCH restoration they are doing; I had thought they were just cutting the deleted scenes back in, like the first one's enhanced edition. But this really is a true restoration to what it was GOING to be before Richard Lester was brought in.

Now, maybe those things weren't technically roll-outs but they were news to us and we were very pleased to read about them. I'm kind of interested in the Johns/Donner Superman comic, too... although, God knows, Kevin Smith and Brad Meltzer should have shown by now that success elsewhere doesn't really translate to good superhero comics. At least DC is smart enough to give Donner a co-writer.

i seem to remember reading somewhere that ROBOCOPs 2&3 were written by Miller as ROBOCOP 2, only fragmented and stretched to make two movies.

1. Miller might do a decent job as director. We’ll have to wait and see. I’ve never really cared about The Spirit so I’m not likely to be offended by a shitty adaptation. The real trick is will Miller be doing any of the writing. Forget about All Star Batman, has anyone else seen Robocop 2 and 3? I’d rather read Dark Knight Strikes Again everday for a month than sit through Robocop 3 again.

That, and a handful of genuinely great actors going balls out over the top with Miller’s shit dialogue. It’s amazing how much I enjoy listening to Mickey Rourke doing Marv’s interior monologue considering how much I hate reading it.

I thought there was some very nice acting, and the movie looked great, but I just thought it translated it so well, it made me question the NEED for a translation. That being said, if you dug Sin City, then odds are pretty good you'll dig The Spirit.

3. Not that they should but why can’t they do Eisner’s Spirit scene for scene?

The Spirit stories were so short and not necessarily connected I don't think it'd be a viable option for a movie, where Sin City had complete stories to adapt, and even THAT managed to fit three in one movie.
