Actually, looking at it, it looks about right if the lighting is coming from slightly to the upper left. It’s about the same shape as the moon a day or two before it’s full. Notice that there aren’t any stars right next to the lower left “edge” — they’re blocked by a sliver of the night side of the planet, which at contrast you’d see from that distance looks completely black.

Yeah I get that, but I still think either
A)it was a mistake
B) It was done on purpose, but still looks like a mistake.

I just think it was a poor decison to make, unless the story inside is dependent on the planet looking like that.

This is a great post, fun to read and having my cover be number 1 rocks.

I much prefer working in color and hopefully will in the future, if more junk gets published! We shall see.

That cover is my favorite of the 3 for Sam Noir and I am glad people seem to like it.

It does look like that. Maybe that's why I didn't make it an honorable mention, as it IS a nice cover - I probably subconsciously thought "Been there, seen that."

The planet in that Coleen Doran drawing is not round. that may be throwing you off also.

Some good stuff here. Makes me feel a little bad I rarely buy stuff from Image. It also makes me feel bad when I DO buy stuff from Image and it's kind of terrible though; That happens a lot.
