18. Dr. Midnight
19. Dr. Octopus 2

3. Dr Spectrum
4. Dr Polaris
5. Dr. Mid-nite
9. Dr Psycho
13. Dr Fate
14. Dr Octopus
15. Dr Light
18. Dr Midnight

20. Doctor Croc

1. Doctor Death
2. Doctor Light
6. Doctor Alchemy
7. Doctor Trapps (clever, that.)
10. Doctor Bong
12. Doctor Poison
16. Doctor Faustus
17. Doctor Spectro

Also, how many of them are actual doctors. I know Doom at least is a college dropout, and neither Dr. Light is actually a doctor to my knowledge. Octavius is though, right?

Both Dr. Midnights were “actual” doctors (actually all three are, but I don’t think the current one’s on this list). Doctor Psycho (what a name!) was a psychiatrist, no? And Doctor Light 2 is a scientist, so it’s probably safe to assume she’s got a PhD, though she’s not a medical doctor.

3. Joseph Ledger — Dr. Spectrum
4. Neal Emerson — Dr. Polaris
5. Charles McNider — Dr. Midnight
11. Alex Sartorius — Dr. Phosphorous
13. Kent Nelson — Dr. Fate
14. Otto Octavius — Dr. Octopus
15. Kimiyo Hoshi — Dr. Light
18. Beth Chapel — Dr. Spectrum
19. Carolyn Trainer — Dr. Octopus

Wow, I am so going to lose… but here’s my crack at it…

5. Dr. Midnight
13. Dr. Fate
14. Dr. Octopus

5. Charles McNider — Mid-Nite
6. Albert Desmond — Alchemy
7. Larry Trapp — Trapp
12. Princess Maru — Poison
13. Kent Nelson — Fate
14. Otto Octavius — Octopus
15. Kimiyo Hoshi — Light

These are the ones I knew without looking them up.

3. Joseph Ledger SPECTRUM
4. Neal Emerson POLARIS
5. Charles McNider MID-NITE
6. Albert Desmond ALCHEMY
8. Douglas Birely DEMONICUS
11. Alex Sartorius PHOSPHORUS
13. Kent Nelson FATE
14. Otto Octavius OCTOPUS
15. Kimiyo Hoshi LIGHT
17. Tom Emery SPECTRO
18. Beth Chapel MIDNIGHT

I had to strectch for #8- I remembered the name Douglas Birely, and associated that with art by Paul Ryan or Dave Ross, which led me to AVENGERS WEST COAST.

My mind is a scary place-

Greg

No love for Doctor Destiny? That’s cold.

5. Mid-Nite (original)
13. Fate (original)
14. Octopus
18. Mid-Nite (Infinity Inc. version)?

When I read the intro on the main page, I expected to do better, but a few other names were vaguely familiar, and that’s all. Jeez, I AM out of the loop.

There’s another Dr. Octopus? And I while I knew McNider’s most recent successor spelled the hero name differently than he had, I didn’t remember that Roy Thomas’s creation did. Just expressing my surprise, not challenging anybody.

Ted –

yep, there was a second Do Ock for awhile. Carolyn Trainer, a student of Dr. Octavius. She took over the name when Otto was dead (temporarily, as it turned out). When the original was brought back to life (with Trainer’s help), she faded from the Spider-Man books (at least, as far as I can tell).

5. Charles McNider-Dr. Midnight
11. Alex Sartorius-Dr. Phosperous
13. Kent Nelson-Dr Fate
14. Otto Octavius- Dr Octopus
15. Kimiyo Hoshi- Dr Light
18. Beth Chapel- Dr Midnight

I suck at this.

Doctor Doom ran his homeland with an iron fist. Do you think the University of Latveria (Home of the Fighting Weasels) could deny his request for an honorary Ph.D?

If Bush has a degree, you’d think a fellow world leader with enough brains to build a time machine at least deserves a doctorate in sports medicine.

Without looking up or online….

1. Karl Hellfern — Death
2. Jacob Finlay — Light (I)
3. Joseph Ledger — Spectrum
4. Neal Emerson — Polaris
5. Charles McNider — Mid-Nite (I)
6. Albert Desmond — Alchemy (I)
7. Larry Trapp — Trap
8. Douglas Birely — Demonicus
9. Edgar Cizko — ?
10. Lester Verde — Bong
11. Alex Sartorius — Phsophorus
12. Princess Maru — Poison
13. Kent Nelson — Fate (I)
14. Otto Octavius — Octopus
15. Kimiyo Hoshi — Light (III)
16. Johann Fennoff — Faustus
17. Tom Emery — Spectro
18. Beth Chapel — MIdnight
19. Carolyn Trainer — Octopus (II)
20. Joshua N’Dingi — Crocodile

– Per the recent Books of Doom, Victor’s title is a self-appointed one taken up when he saw that Reed had gained a PhD.

— Carolyn Trainer was last seen, now calling herself Lady Octopus, in Secret War #1-5.

— Both Charles McNider and Pieter Cross use the “Mid-Nite” spelling, but Beth Chapel used a standard spelling.

— Doctor Bong is great, but what of Doctor Angst?

5. Charles McNider- Dr. Mid-Nite
13. Kent Nelson- Dr. Fate
14. Otto Octavius- Dr. Octopus
15. Kimiyo Hoshi- Dr. Light II
18. Beth Chapel- Dr. Mid-Nite II

These were the only ones I could do…not a good showing…

Without Looking

3. Spectrum
4. Polaris
5. Mid-Nite
6. Alchemy
13. Fate
14. Octopus
15. Light (the 2nd, a Hero)
