Puns have their place in the world, but never as the name of a duo or group.

I like Cloak and Dagger a lot.

I always thought Cloak and Dagger worked myself.

No love for the Deep Six? Or the Wrecking Crew? Or… uh…
…well, okay. I guess the Rabbit wins, because those are the only two that aren’t annoying besides Cloak and Dagger.

Hello? The Beatles?

As great as the Beatles are musically, their name is pretty dumb when you think about it.

Or the B Sharps?
Brad Curran

The B Sharps were always meant to break up under the weight of their own greatness, so it didn’t matter what their name was. Although the Seymour Skinner Experience might have kept it together a couple years longer.

I once thought up a supervillain duo, a combat guy and a mentalist, named Asskicker and Nametaker. I continue to hold to my opinion that they were cool.

Do Cloak and Dagger count? I mean, sure their name references the phrase “Cloak and Dagger”, but I don’t think that’s actually a pun.

I’m pretty sure Cloak and Dagger, the Wrecking Crew, and the Deep Six are not puns.
It’s not comics related, but hands down the worst example of this trend is the rap group the Cunnglynguists.

Anyone remember an old (~1980) foe of Green Arrow and Black Canary?
An elderly woman and her hillbilly nephews were exposed to toxic waste, granting her telekinesis. Setting out to steal enough money for her own cement pond, the old bat called herself. . . Auntie Gravity.
Can’t make that up.

Yeah, I guess you’re right.

You are correct, Mr. Rabbit.
Exhibit A: The Force of July
Case closed.

There were some Spider-Man villains named Styx and Stone. That’s pretty bad. Ooh, how about The Nuclear Family? And Turner D. Century, although that’s just one guy.
