West Coast Avengers had more than one volume, dinnit?

Only one ongoing one.

Only one I know:

#9: Mike Baron

These questions really are aimed at an age group about a decade older than me, I think.

“Only one ongoing one.”

Oh. Ok. Didn’t know that. Steve Engelhart (Who’s the answer to at least one more of these) OR Roger Stern, then.

# 8 was also written by Mike Baron, too.
# 6 was written by Steve Englehart, I think.

2. Roger Slifer
10. Gerry Conway?
13. Steve Gerber
20. Roy Thomas?

1. I don’t know how to spell his name, but I think it’s Joey Cavalleri.
2. Marv Wolfman?
3. Steve Englehart?
4. Bob Budiansky (sp?)
5. Cohn (can’t remember 1st name) & somebody else.
6. Steve Englehart
7. Steve Englehart

You know, I never get to these early enough, and since I only know a few, someone always takes mine!

1. Huntress #1 was Joey Cavalieri, with art by Joe Staton. Kind of a blah series, but not the worst thing in the world.

4. Sleepwalker #1 was Bob Budiansky with art by Brett Blevins. Budiansky either colored or lettered it, too.

8. Flash #1 was Mike Baron with art by Jackson Guice, back when he didn’t call himself Butch.

You early risers and non-sleepers stink and I hate you all.

By the by, I think Jackson Guice has been called Butch for as long as he’s been drawing comics professionally.

1. Huntress #1 Joey Cavalieri
2. Omega Men #1 Roger Slifer

4. Sleepwalker #1
5. Blue Devil #1 Dan Mishkin & Gary Cohn

8. Flash #1 (1987 launch) Mike Baron
9. Punisher #1 (1987)
10. Tomb of Dracula #1 I don’t think Marv Wolfman wrote the 1st issue
11. Darkhawk #1 Danny Fingeroth I believe
12. Black Goliath #1
13. Omega the Unknown #1 Steve Gerber & Mary Skrenes
14. Black Canary #1 Sarah Bynum? Something like that
15. Primal Force #1 Tip of my fingers, but I can’t remember

17. Ghost Rider #1 (1973)
18. Darkstars #1 Robert Loren Fleming
19. Supergirl (1972) #1
20. The Sub-Mariner #1

14. Black Canary # 1–Sarah Byam–good job Mr. Green.

15. Primal Force # 1– Steven Seagle

18. Darkstars # 1–Michael Jan Friedman

Those are ones that I have noticed people having a problem with.

I cannot figure out #’s 19 or 20–both just a bit before my time.

1. J.M. Dematteis (?)
5. Gary Cohn and Dan Mishkin
6 & 7. Steve Englehart
8. Mike Baron
10. Marv Wolfman
16. Tony Isabella

I’m pretty confident about all after the first, and feel I should have known Omega Men, Punisher, and Ghost Rider (if the guy who wrote Johnny Blaze’s very first story in Marvel Spotlight was still around for the launch of his own title), but I just can’t remember, so let’s take a look.

Joey Cavalieri (or whatever) replaced Paul Levitz on the Huntress series in the back of Wonder Woman, but I don’t know if he wrote the post-Crisis version in her self-titled book, as it was a major revamp, and had less in common with its predecessor than the Silver Age Hawkman did.

Yes, Steven Grant and Mike Baron are the writers of the Punisher mini and the ongoing, but which wrote which?

1. Huntress #1- Joey Cavalieri
2. Omega Men #1- Roger Slifer & Keith Giffen
3. Iron Fist #1 (1975)- dunno
4. Sleepwalker #1- Bob Budiansky
5. Blue Devil #1- Dan Mishkin & Gary Cohn
6. Silver Surfer #1 (1987)- Steve Englehart?
7. West Coast Avengers #1- Roger Stern?
8. Flash #1 (1987 launch)- Mike Baron
9. Punisher #1 (1987)- Mike Baron
10. Tomb of Dracula #1- Gerry Conway
11. Darkhawk #1- Danny Fingeroth?
12. Black Goliath #1- dunno
13. Omega the Unknown #1- Steve Gerber
14. Black Canary #1- Sarah Byam
15. Primal Force #1- John F. Moore?
16. Luke Cage, Hero for Hire #1 – dunno
17. Ghost Rider #1 (1973)- dunno. Marv Wolfman?
18. Darkstars #1- Michael Jan Friedman
19. Supergirl (1972) #1- Elliot S! Maggin?
20. The Sub-Mariner #1- dunno…Stan Lee, I think…

“Yes, Steven Grant and Mike Baron are the writers of the Punisher mini and the ongoing, but which wrote which?”

Grant did the mini with Mike Zeck, while Baron did the ongoing, with Whilce Portacio the first regular artist on the book, if I remember correctly…

Looking at the other answers, I curse myself for forgetting that Claremont did Iron Fist…d’oh!

Klaus Janson was the artist on the first issue of the ongoing Punisher series I believe. Did Claremont really write Iron fist #1? I know he finished the series, but did he write the premiere issue?

If memory serves me:
Tomb of Dracula – Gardner Fox
The Sub-mariner- Roy Thomas (Marvel) Everett (Timely)

Butch Guice went by “Butch” back in the beginning of his career, e.g. in his run on Micronauts, and then switched to “Jackson” sometime after that, e.g. on the Superman titles, and recently has apparently gone back to “Butch” again, e.g. on Aquaman: Sword of Atlantis. I have no idea whether he has particular reasons for switching the name he’s credited under. As far as I know he’s never used both names at the same time, and he’s only switched twice. But I could be wrong.

I think Ghost Rider #1 was written by Mike Friedrich, although I am, of course, open to correction!

Black Goliath I’m pretty sure was written by Tony Isabella.

Ok, I’ll take a shot.

1. Huntress #1

Greg Rucka.

4. Sleepwalker #1

Bob Harrass?

5. Blue Devil #1

Dan Mishkin and …. shoot! I should so know this.

7. West Coast Avengers #1

John Byrne

8. Flash #1 (1987 launch)

William Messner-Loebs

9. Punisher #1 (1987)

Steven Grant

10. Tomb of Dracula #1

Marv Wolfman

14. Black Canary #1

Roy Thomas?

15. Primal Force #1

Steven T. Seagle

18. Darkstars #1

Tom Peyer?

Hey, it’s more than I usually get, which is none.
