Here in LA, the poor sap consigned to hang desperately from a lamppost and scream into a mic is Beverly White. I've often wondered why she gets this nasty job; is it some subtle racism (she's the only african-american on the newscast), or is it sexist? Is it a seniority thing? Or is it, as you suggest, just that she's really bad at Rock-Paper-Scissors? I think you're onto something.

Spider-Man with no secret identity, married to a supermodel, living in Avengers Tower, wearing armor, getting his ass kicked by two D-List villains...

Hey, maybe it was Ben Reilly after all.

And I live for the day that some TV hairdo standing in the middle of a hurricane telling us how dangerous it is outside gets decapitated by a flying Stop sign.

I was 4 years old when Adam West ran around in tights, and at the time it worked for me. My son grew up with the Animated Series of the early 90's so the TV show looks silly to him. It is all a matter perspective and character history. He can't watch the TV show without cracking up however, but what does he know, he thinks the X-men always had Wolverine!

I imagine Spider-man as he is now (or was with the techy-suit and living in Avengers tower) will feature heavily in the discussion of what makes a spider-man story for instance.

It can't be any worse than in Portland. At least you get adverse weather often enough in the winter. In Portland we would get half an inch of snow and everyone would freak out, not daring to leave the house. One year we got an inch and they closed the Interstates. The freakin' federal highways! Doesn't Seattle get enough crappy weather so people at least know a little bit about dealing with it? Why is the Northwest made up of people who don't know how to drive in inclement weather, for crying out loud? It's the Northwest!
