Ah, excellent point. Now I'm cranky that I missed that, because you're absolutely right. Sheesh.

"FGJ - I thought about that, but it doesn’t get mentioned again, and I didn’t want to extrapolate too much about what it means in terms of autism, because I don’t know enough about it. I’m sure Morrison wants to draw some sort of conclusion to autism and fantasy worlds, but I don’t know what it is. Is there anybody out there who knows a lot about autism? "

I was thinking maybe more along the lines that she was already doing good for the world - lasting, real good for other people - and yet it didn't count, as such, until she put on a uniform and fought against other people in uniforms.

Formerly Known as the Justice League had a mention of Fire posing semi-nude on her website. Actually, she was posing covered in flames, and it made her look naked, but she actually wasn't. But there were guys that got turned on by it, so she let them think she was naked to get money from them. Definitely a comment about superheroines and the male gaze, or something like that.

It's not really porn, but Watchmen had the bit about Nite-Owl II and his costume fetish.

And there's probably other examples in Powers, but the one I thought of was the faux-Batman/Robin golden shower bit in the penultimate storyline of the first volume.

Hmmm...does Chuck Austen's Worldwatch count?

I could probably think of other superhero porn examples, but I also wanted to mention that I liked the mention in this issue of people in the DC universe who are always ending up in the hospital because they're desparate to get superpowers. Kind of like Dynamite Dan from SS#0. And Morrison threw in a subtle dig at J.M. Straczynski with a mention of people trying to get totemic powers. I thought that was funny.

To my knowledge, the best of the 'porn & superheroes' connection was done in the Marshal Law series by Kevin O'Neil and Pat Mills.
