The Therapy group.

Hey there!

spelling of Lucian's name - okay... my bad.

The therapy group - Why do I think it's a different old broad? Grant said in an interview after Seven Soldiers !#1 that he likes to add dirt/noise/static for texture but that "all the clues are there" and "people misinterpret his message when it seems so simple and obvious"

So I am applying the Sherlock Holmes method of 'removing all the irrelevant facts until the relevant facts remain.'

And that's how I made my personal conlusions on:
- Li'l Hollywood not being the sexual animal that everyone seems to be projecting
- Captain 7 being Father Time (because I want to believe the whole army fought the Sheeda) and they swore an oath infront of the U.N. (the home of the first SHADE headquarters)
- GM himself applied the race card in making us conclude who the father of Suzi's twins are?

nybcboy - It's definitely "Lucian." I don't know why it's NOT Lucien, because that would make sense, but it's definitely Lucian.

I guess I'm in the minority regarding the tone of the convention. I don't think it's total mockery, but I think there's a bit. But that's just my opinion.

I also think it's pretty clear that Sally is at the therapy group. She mentions not being able to buy beer even though she's 75 years old. We have seen her origin, which looks like it takes place years ago, especially when Dennis makes a reference to the war, which is probably WWII. So Sally COULD be that old. And what are the chances of TWO different women in this epic looking really young but really being old?

I look forward to your thoughts about Captain 7. I'll try to spot the clue you mention when I re-read Bulleteer #4.

Hi guys

Pardon the stream-of-consciousness rant earlier. I should check my spelling and grammar better next time.

It's Lucien, not "Lucian"

1) I have the utmost respect for Grant Morrison (and Alan Moore etc.) I sense no mocking tone in this issue whatever. And if he did aim an insult-arrow at you, duck.

2) Jedeye -

re: Li'l Hollywood

I hear what you're saying about her possible sexual needs. But I simply don't see it in the 30 issues of this saga.

When she was helping Mo Collins, it was in the context of a good person helping somehow she knew fight his inner Sheeda. She was not a Lolita in MG #4. And I don't think she's a Gloria Swanson in B #3.

And the splatter on her face? My thought was "no good deed goes unpunished." I do not equate the spray of blood on her face with the cum shot that splattered Alix and turned her into Bulleteer.

3) The therapy group
- Nah. I don't think it's Sally. Because Sally can't look that ugly.
- And "if" we believe Lucien, it's not LH either. Because he snuck aay from her to attend that group

4) Dumb Bunny
- I love her. especially when Phil Foglio did her. I find it strange that no one compared her "strong and sexual but she doesn't know it" syndrome with Alix's
- Here's hoping "Athena Tremor" gets some recognition in the AMAZONS ATTACK mini-series. She "is" the daughter of a South American amazon!

Thanks guys

p.s. I'll post my Captain 7 theory in Bulleteer number 4 (because the clue is there...)

I must agree with nybcboy on the first point. I've seen GM a number of times at conventions and appearances and signings, and I feel pretty safe in saying this isn't a guy who believes "comic book conventions are the last refuge of kooks and losers" -- and I didn't get any such message from this story either. He may be tweaking some of the silliness and pathos we see at conventions, but not without a certain affection and sympathy. And in fact, if you look at Lucian's speech to Alix on page 16, that dialogue may very well be a self-representation by the author -- much like Wally Sage in <i>Flex Mentallo</i> -- an impression enhanced by the way Lucian is drawn to resemble Morrison himself in this scene.

My one gripe with this issue is that, just as he demonstrated previously in his penultimate issue of <i>Animal Man</i>, Morrison has never appreciated what a great character Dumb Bunny really was. No, I'm totally serious here: all of the Inferior Five have been criminally misunderstood...and I dread them being brought back in some hideously mangled form by some creator who doesn't get what they were really all about.

Re: "She listens"

This is important to Spyder because if she can listen, that means her ears work. The ears are a hole right next to the brain. An arrow in the ear is an arrow in the brain, and voila! one dead metal woman. Yes, she moved because she listens (and cares about the people she's listening to), but Spyder was interested because it it also a chink in her armour. Ironically, the listening also made her remove her helmet which would have protected her ears anyhow.

nybcboy -

I don't think it was Lil' Hollywood next to him at that therapy group, it was Sally Sonic, hence the bitterness and aggression she displays in that panel. Lil' Hollywood, despite any other flaws she may have, doesn't strike me as the type to be raging about her eternal youth. That does seem to be Sally's MO though.

Also, with regards to Lil' Hollywood and using her sexuality, firstly, she's been alive for many years and I'm sure would have discovered that aspect of her personality by now. She appears physically old enough for all that stuff to work properly and mentally she's a 70 year old, and even pensioners get amorous sometimes. And, I'm fairly sure that if you were so inclined (and were looking to stretch the boundaries or credibility ever so slightly), you could read that blood-spattered panel from MG#4 with sexual connotations in a loss of innocence/Desdemona's handkerchief kind of way. But I could be totally wrong there.

Now, Greg, I'm well-aware that Kyle Rayner's butt does not exist. It's like a platonic concept. Far too perfect to truly manifest in our reality.

Hi

Re: Bulleteer 3

Rorshach test - we see what we want to see, buddy

1) Defending Grant Morrison - I don't see any mockery in this issue. Not gays, not girl-sluts, not the sacred name of Bulletgirl. Not even the young adult males who are ready to pop. So all I can say is "chill".

2) Li'l Hollywood as Gloria Swanson - I have not seen any hint of sexual energy coming from her to him. I see him saying that she wanted him sexually. But no proof.
The clues say: She needed his power to defeat TTT , plain and simple. The final proof (for me) was that she let him go (pink slip anyone?) as soon as SS#1 finished, which was why he had to attend the Booster Gold funeral as his next gig during 52.

3) Stella - I prefer to believe that she was crying "Wolf" that second time. If I read the clues right, Miss Stellamaris is an attention-whore.

4) And Lucian "pushed" Alix out of harm's way. She did not pick him up. Look at his arms. Look at her arms.

5) We can argue this until the cows come home. Perhaps GM will show the real answers note when "ABSOLUTE SEVEN SOLDIERS" is released. Me? I choose to believe the clues and the hints.

6) Loose string theory #1 - Lucian
- If we believe Lucian, then it was not LH who was sitting next to him at the therapy group. Who was that old female then? who cares. It was one of Grant's red herring

7) Loose string theory #2 - Li'l Hollywood
- her comment as to "Lucian's chance to be a hero coming soon" is too deliberate to be a throwaway.
- who did she impersonate in the SEVEN SOLDIERS saga? How did she help the cause of the Newsboy Army? Logic dictates that it was someone in the latter part of issue 3 or later. Sally? Vigilante? who?!?

Thank you for your time.
Please contact me if you'd like me to share two more tidbits:
- my seven soldiers art pages
- my seven soldiers "art"

8) By the way #1 - Captain 7 grows up to become Father Time.

9) By the way #2 - I am the kind of fan that your mother warned you about. Cameron, Yanick, and Grant know I exist.
