I loved Ed's Terrestrials, and while Dreamland isn't terribly original (and I had similar reservations about the art), I enjoyed what Sava did with the concept. While it's mostly setup, it's a good example of half the joy coming from the journey, not the destination. I'm looking forward to Volume 2.

There's nothing immature about enjoying a well-told story that's aimed at a younger audience, especially when so many supposedly mature comics are quite juvenile these days.

PS: Agnes Quill sounds interesting, so I'll keep an eye out for it.

I just wanted to jump in here and mention that in addition to doing fun, kid-friendly projects that you should all be supporting, Scott Sava is also one of the nicest guys in comics. He donated 30 copies -- each-- of the first two issues of his fall-down funny book, The Lab, to my students a couple of years back and they LOVED it... but in the back of the books were a couple of preliminary ads for Dreamland Chronicles, and I still get asked about it every once in a while from my 8th graders who got their Lab books from Scott in the 6th grade. They will be delighted to hear it's out.

Anyway, Scott is a hell of a guy and he deserves the support, so I'm glad we're giving him a push here.

While the first two books here seem pretty cool and a lot of fun, that last one sounds pretty dreadful. Between the fairly stock plot and the...um..."interesting" art, I'm going to give a big pass to that one. It reminds me a lot a show on NBC saturday mornings that makes me cring every time I flip past it (some computer animated show that has such horrendously stiff and odd-looking CGI that it boggles my mind that a network would show it) and that is not a good thing. Regardless, these are some good reviews and I may actually pick up Ed's Terrestrials thanks to this article.
