He's in that New Gods thing by john Byrne
nothing special about him there. He has a sappy subplot about a long lost daughter, and he had dated an other little person. With the kind of fear he showed abnout producing offspring like him, I'm surprise he's attracted to other midgets at all.

"You know why we haven’t seen Oberon? He’s hiding out from Dan Didio, Geoff Johns, Judd Winick, et al, in an undisclosed location, along with Maya, Ray, Lionheart, Erewhon, L-RON, Dr. Light II, Tasmanian Devil, Echo, Vapor, Praxis, Reverb, and Bluejay. They all probably think Fire, Metamorpho, Gypsy, and Guy Gardner are nuts, sticking their necks out in regular series the way they are. Hide, Bea, Rex, Cindy, and Guy! HIDE WHILE YOU CAN! Dr. Light II can attest to the wisdom of doing that…she showed her face for the first time in years and got mashed in a massive continuity foul-up."

LOL!
But sadly true.

I LOVE Oberon too.
Another of those fiery short Kirby kreations.
Another character who got a lot of Kirby's own personality I think.

The Giffen/DeMatteis run on Justice League was the only time I bought that title on a regularly (if not religiously) basis. Oberon seemed like the only sane person on that team. So many fun storiues, back when comic book super-heroes didn't have to be serious, dark and gritty all the time.

Hate what they did with Max Lord on the whole Identity Crisis krap! I more or less dropped every DC titles after that (except Jonah Hex). Killing off poor Elongated Man's soulmate. Ray Palmer's ex-wife as the main villain. What a mess!

Oberon hooked up with Fire? That must've been after I stopped reading the JLI books.

Oberon's always great, but I have to point out the brilliance of Dick Miller in the role on JLU. He was pure gold.

Oberon! I loved Oberon in JLI. He was such a cranky guy, yet had a heard of gold...and was often the voice of reason and compassion. How did Grant Morrison get away with doing a Mister Miracle mini-series and not include Oberon?

Strangely enough, that cover seems to be a good visualisation of the state of comicdom today. Something is wrong, but all we can do is looking in another direction, full of pain.

Joey Tribiani is cooler than Shortround.

I loves me some Oberon. If that teaser picture really means there's a Scott/Barda series coming, Oberon better be in it.

Oberon would definitely be in hiding: seeing all his JL buddies offed one by one is probably a little disconcerting to him.

Hmm, with Barda in the Birds of Prey, maybe he could show up there.

Oberon was one of the better Kirby midget created sidekicks created; definitely cooler than the monocoled freak that was with T'Challa in Kirby's Black Panther run.

He was a perfect foil to Scott and the rest of the Justice League of the much lamented Giffen/DeMatties/Maguire run. Excellent post! More midgets please!
