One thing that's been bugging me for the past few days, does anybody know how Dala managed to stab herself at the end of Batman and the Mad Monk? I assume that's what happened, but the art doesn't make it very clear. I mean, the sword is in her right hand when Julie hits her with the board, then it looks like she's stabbing herself in the chest with her left hand in the next panel.

I've reread it several times and it's still really confusing to me, which is really unusual coming from Wagner.

You say Daredevil treated Karen badly, but let's face it--she wasn't exactly peaches to him either. Any ex-girlfriend of mine who sold me out to the number one criminal in New York City to get a fix is a girlfriend I'm not exactly calling "the love of my life" anymore, thanks all the same.

I remember an interview with Ennis from a book on Comics Scriptwriting where he says he wasn't raised religious at all, so I'm not sure lapsed catholic would be accurate.

But growing up in Ireland and seeing/hearing about the violence that comes from the struggle amongst Catholics and Protestants it might be easy to see why he has problems with organized religion.

Brad, the colors aren't like that for most of the issue. They briefly used that style and palette during a flashback in #194, but it doesn't make an appearance in #195.

Also, are the colors on the cover of X-Men like that in the comic? Because that looks interesting to me. I'll have to thumb through this issue when I get to a shop again.

They don't care about schedules IF you're a "name" who's selling the comic on their own (at least partially). It's not like they aren't publishing a ton of comics in assembly line fashion still; for instance, they didn't suspend Batman when Morrison needed a break. Burrows is not enough of a "name" to be able to work at the same pace that Frank Miller or Brian Hitch get away with. If he was a guy who was on Wizard's top 10 list or something, it would be different.

I figured it was something like that, but I find the idea that someone could be too slow for DC and Marvel humorous. They don't care about schedules anymore, anyway.

And it is kind of cool that Burrows can work with these guys all the time. It would be nice if more people knew about him, though.

Regarding Jacen Burrows:
Based off of what I've read on his LiveJournal and interviews he's done, I get the sense that he has no interest in working for either Marvel or DC. He's said numerous times that he's more interested in horror/gore than any other genre, and I believe he's admitted that he's not a fast enough artist to keep up with the pace of monthly work for the big 2.

It's regrettable that he doesn't get more exposure, but at the same time, Avatar allows him to work with Ellis, Ennis, and his next project is going to be written by Alan Moore, so I imagine the work he's getting is far more artistically satisfying for him than something like JSA Classified or Iron Man would be.
