It works because reputable writers make links to things they consider reputable sources. So readers, when they find something distasteful or unreliable, don't just hit the back button once, they hit it twice.

Trillo and Risso did a number of lengthy books together. Boy Vampire comes to mind (which I have not read). As does Chicanos, which I just recently got from Amazon. Risso is definitely one of the greats, but I love Trish Mulvihill’s colors in 100 Bullets too much to risk it in b&w.

As far as I know, Gabe, it’s older stuff that has been translated. Brian Azzarello writes the introduction, and although he doesn’t come right out and say it, he implies it’s older stuff that is just now coming to America.

What can I say, K. Thor? It’s a good book.

Is that Risso book “Borderline” new or is it a translation of older stuff that was never printed in the US?

Those scans do add a lot to your reviews–I see what you mean by “scoop jaws.” Also, thanks for posting the review of Red Eye, Black Eye–I’m still confused as to why so few other sites are reviewing it.

Thanks for the reviews. I couldn’t really get into First Moon but like you I enjoyed the historical sequences more. I was interested in Borderline because of Risso but I wasn’t sure about how the writing would be so I passed on it but now I’m going to try and pick it up eventually.
