I’d Have Kept Happy Hogan Alive
Seriously, how lame was that?
It got, maybe, ONE good issue out of the Knauf’s Iron Man run, and that’s about it – and the cost is a character who had been an Iron Man cast member since the Silver Age?
I’d have skipped that, and just sent Happy off on a bus – maybe he could be stuck in a coma or something. You could tell the same basic story with Happy in a coma, can’t you?

And it’s certainly not like Tony was hurting for pathos at the time. It was smack-dab in the middle of Civil War, for cripes sake!

Yeah…and Happy was always a rather nice, fun character who acted as a fine foil to Stark with his diffident, earthy ways.

Happy Hogan is dead? During Civil War? Someone was hard up for story ideas.

I had no idea they killed him. I basically have a mental block against all things Iron Man since they turned him into Iron Douchebag. If so, that’s too bad as I liked him in the brief time I read the Iron Man books (back during the Busiek/Tieri/Grell run of the late 90′s to early 2000′s.)
