6. Superboy and the Ravers. Decent book…horrible name.

11. The Blasters, although I’ll admit I needed a little help from wikipedia for that one.

And by 6, I of course meant 5.

1. Red Trinity
5. The Ravers?
8. The Force of July
10. The Deviants?
11. The Blasters
13. The Ani-Men?
15. The Captains of Industry?
17. The Green Team?

There’s a couple more that I recognize but can’t put a name to. Not a great performance by me. But a really great list, Brian!

7. Titanic Three
18. Liberators

14 is Old Justice, if I recall.

9. is… I forget their name. But they were the Golden Age-era parents of the Inferior Five.

5. The Ravers
13. The Ani-Men
14. The only reason I answered this quiz in the first place: Old Justice!
17. Commodore Murphy, J. P. Houston and Cecil Sunbeam
18. The Lady Liberators

13. The Ani-Men
14. The Lady Liberators

6. Cowled Commander, Eel, Plantman, Porcupine, Scarecrow, Viper – Crime Wave
7. Crimson Dynamo, Radioactive Man and Titanium Man- Soviet-Supersoldiers
9. The Patriot, Lady Liberty, Captain Swift, The Bowman, Princess Power, Mr. Might and The Mermaid – Squadron Supreme
11. Snapper Carr, Dust Devil, Frag, Looking Glass, Jolt, Crackpot, Gunther and Churljenkins- The Blasters
12. Beta Ray Bill, Morfex, Quasar, Silver Surfer, Xenith- The infinity Guard?
13. Ape-Man, Bird-Man, and Cat-Man – the Ani-men

15. Maser, Firehawk and Catalyst – Captains of Industry
18. Black Widow, Medusa, Scarlet Witch, Wasp and Enchantress (posing as Valkyrie)- the Lady liberators

Number 20 is the Avant Guard (from some old Web of Spider-Man issues).

9. The Patriot, Lady Liberty, Captain Swift, The Bowman, Princess Power, Mr. Might and The Mermaid – THE FREEDOM BRIGADE

17. Commodore Murphy, J. P. Houston and Cecil Sunbeam – The Green Team

At some point Cat-Man, Ape-Man and Bird-Man were called the Unholy Three (when they worked for Deathstalker), according to a Marvel Universe entry. They were originally the Ani-men when they included Frog-Man and briefly Dragonfly (and worked for Count Nefaria).

Medusa, Widow, Valkyrie, Wasp and Scarlet Witch were “the Lady Liberators”, ’cause, y’know, just “Liberators” wasn’t “on the nose” enough for Marvel back then.

Fun list.

sorry, just noticed the Lady Liberators were mentioned already, but who can get enough of that name?

Doing them all from memory, without checking the veracity:
1. Russian drugged-up speedster team from the earliest days of Wally’s title. “Blue Trinity,” maybe?
5. Superboy and the Ravers
7. Soviet Super-Soldiers?
8. Force of July
11. Blasters
14 Old Justice
17 Green Team!

Wow, these were harder than I thought. Here are the only ones I could even guess at, without looking at the other answers…

5. Superboy, Kaliber, Aura, Hero, Rex the Wonder Dog and Sparx

SUPERBOY & THE RAVERS?

6. Cowled Commander, Eel, Plantman, Porcupine, Scarecrow, Viper

I really feel like I should know this one…

8. Lady Liberty, Major Victory, Mayflower, Silent Majority and Sparkler

FORCE OF JULY!! I remember them from the Janus Directive…

9. The Patriot, Lady Liberty, Captain Swift, The Bowman, Princess Power, Mr. Might and The Mermaid

Weren’t these THE PROTECTORS from Malibu’s old superhero line? Or are these somebody else?

11. Snapper Carr, Dust Devil, Frag, Looking Glass, Jolt, Crackpot, Gunther and Churljenkins

BLASTERS

13. Ape-Man, Bird-Man, and Cat-Man

COUNT NEFARIA’S MUTANTS. But weren’t there also Frog-Man and Dragonfly?

Looking at the other answers, I feel stupid for forgetting that Nefaria’s mutants were called the “Ani-Men” and that I was horribly off with the guess at the Protectors one. Oh well…

Here are the ones I know off the top of the head, without reading the previous replies. Sorry for duplication, but I wanted to test myself unbiased.

1. RED TRINITY / KAPATALIST KOURIERS- Anatole, Bebeck and Cassiopeia
3. ANACHRONAUTS- Apocryphus, Deathunt 9000, Raa, Sir Raston, Ssith, Tyndar, Wildrun
5. RAVERS- Superboy, Kaliber, Aura, Hero, Rex the Wonder Dog and Sparx
7. TITANIC THREE(?) (From AVENGERS #130 or so)- Crimson Dynamo, Radioactive Man and Titanium Man
8. FORCE OF JULY- Lady Liberty, Major Victory, Mayflower, Silent Majority and Sparkler
11. BLASTERS- Snapper Carr, Dust Devil, Frag, Looking Glass, Jolt, Crackpot, Gunther and Churljenkins
12. STAR-BLASTERS(?)- Beta Ray Bill, Morfex, Quasar, Silver Surfer, Xenith
13. ANI-MEN- Ape-Man, Bird-Man, and Cat-Man
14. OLD JUSTICE- The Cyclone Kids, Dyna, Doiby Dickles, Merry the Gimmick Girl, Neptune Perkins and Sweep Second
15. CAPTAINS OF INDUSTRY- Maser, Firehawk and Catalyst
18. LADY LIBERATORS- Black Widow, Medusa, Scarlet Witch, Wasp and Enchantress (posing as Valkyrie)

These are always a fun distraction Brian. Back to work for me!

Greg

7. Well, they’re all Iron Man villains, and I knew they’d teamed up, but a collective name is new to me.
13. I believe this is The Terible Trio, from a late 50s or early 60s Batman story.
18. The Champions, from mid-70s Marvel.

Several others have a lot of members who are familiar to me (especially #14, with its DC Golden Age [Earth--2?] characters) but the group as a whole isn’t. Let’s see what everybody else says.

Looks like I didn’t get anything right, and in fact I should have remembered that Hercules was one of the Champions, and that neither Jan nor Wanda figured to be.

My compliments to Matthew E. for spotting the Inferior 5′s forebears. And I also second Greg Geren’s closing sentiments, with my apologies for having to be prodded by him.

Without reading the above answers….

1. Anatole, Bebeck and Cassiopeia

Red Trinity, aka Kapitalist Kouriers from the Baron and later Messner-Loebs Flash series

5. Superboy, Kaliber, Aura, Hero, Rex the Wonder Dog and Sparx

6. Cowled Commander, Eel, Plantman, Porcupine, Scarecrow, Viper

Never had an official name, but were called a “Crime Wave” in the story title in Captain America #159.

7. Crimson Dynamo, Radioactive Man and Titanium Man

The Titanic Three, heroes of Viet Nam

8. Lady Liberty, Major Victory, Mayflower, Silent Majority and Sparkler

The Force of July, fos of the Outsiders later slain by the Suicide Squad and Kobra

9. The Patriot, Lady Liberty, Captain Swift, The Bowman, Princess Power, Mr. Might and The Mermaid

The Freedom Legion…arrrgh, that’s not it…they were the parents of the Inferior Five

10. Kro, Enigmo, El Toro Rojo, Tzabaoth, Karkas, Ransak the Reject, Dragona, Metabo, Blackwulf, Erishkigal

Delta Force, the “good” Deviants

11. Snapper Carr, Dust Devil, Frag, Looking Glass, Jolt, Crackpot, Gunther and Churljenkins

The Blasters, from post-Invasion! DC comics

12. Beta Ray Bill, Morfex, Quasar, Silver Surfer, Xenith

The Star Masters, Mark Gruenwald’s ill-fated effort to save the Marvel Cosmics line

13. Ape-Man, Bird-Man, and Cat-Man

The Unholy Three — add in Frog-Man, and they’d be the original Ani-Men. (The second Ani-Men lacked a Frog-Man, though.)

Old Justice

15. Maser, Firehawk and Catalyst

8)Freedom Ring or The Force of July

13)The Ani-men

The Mad Monkey

19. InterC.E.P.T.

Thank you, Google…lol…
I know…I know…I cheated…but, that was the only one I couldn’t get.

Bad showing from me:

5. The Ravers?
7. Something from The Simpsons
11. Blasters?
