Shameless Friday Plug

Column's probably going to be a bit late again this week, because we have another comics-related event. If you're anywhere around Seattle or the surrounding area this Friday evening, come see us at...

It's going to be cool!

I'm looking at the schedule and it looks to be a really entertaining evening. In addition to all sorts of local young artists displaying their wares -- that would include my students and their zines -- there's also going to be music from local bands, as well as a presentation from local manga publishers NDP Comics. I've been running into Nicole and Danielle at local shows for five or six years now; they put on these great "How To Draw Manga" demonstrations at local libraries all over Puget Sound, and I've even taken the class to a couple of them here and there.

The whole thing was put together, again, by the lovely and talented Jennifer Bisson and her stalwart crew at the Seattle Library's Teen Center, who are doing a lot to raise the visibility of comics here locally.

Anyway, come by and say hello if you're anywhere local. Downtown Seattle Main Library, 4th and Spring, from four PM to nine PM. And it's FREE.

That sounds great and all, but I have to ask… what, exactly, is the point of All Ages Artist Night?

Wow. That "joke" will sound really snarky to anyone who didn't read your last column. In all seriousness, it sounds like you do awesome stuff with those kids, Greg. Rock on!
