On the other hand, how many people on this list use a teleportation ring they stole from John Belushi? I can only think of one… (Certainly, that should rank him higher than Silver Sable…)

So when Bill suggested Silver Star, it was in keeping with the rules, as laid out. I was just a stinker, and changed the rules later.

I appreciated the Silver Sorceress mention. I liked the whole Marvel’s Avengers parody/homage.

Good point on Silver Sable, it does seem like she was cursed into being badly drawn whenever she appears. I don’t find her that cool and would have droped her from the Top 5.

Silver St.Cloud is my favorite Bruce Wayne love interest, after Catwoman. Julie Madison was the first one right? From the earliest Batman stories by Bob Kane? If so, I don’t see the reason you find her interesting.

Silver Surfer belongs to the very top of course.

Silver Samurai is a cool villain. Althought he was not always well written.

Quicksilver has always been a personnale favorite, from his beginning as on of Magneto’s Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, to his (and sister Scarlet Witch) redemption into Avengers to his solo series, to Ostrander’s HEROES FOR HIRE and his solo series from the 90′s.

As for Silver Star, as much as I like about everything Jack Kirby’s hand as touched, Silver Star wasn,t his best work.

So my top 5 would have been:
1) Silver Surfer
2) Quicksilver
3) Silver Dagger
4) Silver Samurai
5) Silver St. Cloud

Oh, and Silver Agent saved the world at the same time as he was being electrocuted for a murder he didn’t commit. Beat that, Silver Samurai.

I did not.

And, anyway, it’s 3:00 AM and I’m old – why the heck am I hassling Cronin about the Silver Agent? I’m going to bed.

That would give me a good reason to exclude Silver Agent, and would not be an insult to the guy (who I DO like)!!!

Maybe I missed some Astro City issues, but haven’t we mostly just seen the Silver Agent in background pieces of the “main” story?

Actually, if you go the Astro City home page he’s the first thing you’ll see. He’s had some important parts in the past – but he died in 1973, so you don’t see him in any of the comics set in the current era.

And, while I hate to disagree with Brian Cronin, I would have put Silver Agent at #2 – the only one you listed who’s cooler is the Silver Surfer (who you definitely got in the right spot). Fun list, by the way.

But I DO think it was kinda weird how Vanessa and her mother were dropped during Byrne’s run. Same with Chunk and Connie in Waid’s Flash run.

Actually, Phil Jimenez (whom nobody will claim is nearly as good a writer as he is an artist) did great things with the character. She started out as a B-list Wonder Woman villain — but then Jimenez recast the role. Now the woman with the wings and the sonic scream was Vanessa Kapetelis, who was a fine supporting character in Diana’s cast all during George Perez’s run, but of course the dreadful John Byrne chucked all of Diana’s supporting cast to create his own. Vanessa, jealous that she had never been given the opportunity to become Wonder Girl instead of Cassie, became the Silver Swan. This new dynamic really raised the stakes. And, unlike so many other loved-ones-turned-antagonists who become possessed and fight the hero (eg., Star Sapphire), there was the underlying issue of Diana’s neglect of Vanessa. In other words, our hero was partly to blame for the tragic turn of events. Good stuff.

Never heard of Silver Dagger, but that cover is pretty kickass. Who is that being menaced, Clea?
