I really thought that the right writer for a revamp of this comic would have ben Kurt Busiek. He wrote a dozen or so issues between #85 and #105. But, Busiek does a wonderful job of emplying a "man on the street" perspective to his writing. Both Powerman and Iron Fist were essentilly mid-powered heroes in a super-powered world. Their perspective on colossal threats and heavy-hitting heroes could be very refreshing.

Who knows. Maybe one day.

Power Man/Iron Fist was a totally under-rated comic, full of good humour, slapstick, silly missions and a great supporting cast. Only when it went all serious (around issue 100) did it begin to lose its charm and I'm not surprised it was cancelled shortly afterwards.

Marvel need to do an essential on this baby.

>>(although his rogue’s gallery was never anything to write home about. “Senor Muerte” was the best of the lot, and he died his first time out.)

Have to disagree on that one. What about Cockroach Hamilton, Piranha Jones, Cottonmouth, Spear, Stiletto & Discus, or Mace? All solid mid-level villains for a mid-level hero like the Hero For Hire.

Beyond that, good article. The pairing of blaxploitation ahd chop-socky has gone on to become almost cliche thanks to these guys -- just watch Rush Hour!

a series written by Brian Michael Bendis, who continues Claremont’s tradition of looking to the past for characters that still have life in them.

That's a kind way of putting it.
