World War Hulk: Frontline 3 - gives a nice sense of menace and bad days ahead
Uncanny X-Men 489 - doesn't Larocca make Ororo look great?
Punisher 50 - just another so-so picture by Bradstreet? Not so, there's power but weariness also. I like it.
Daredevil 100 - great wraparound with a galaxy of stars but maybe a little too muddled to make my top five

5 Annihilation: Conquest Starlord 2 - because it's funny and well painted.

4 Nova 5 - okay, so it's a rip off of Nova 1 but Nova 1 was a terrific cover and Granov's a brilliant artist and he's pulled off a good copy here.

3 Shanna the She Devil 1 - Funny and, oboy, sexy. Was the dinosaur crushed by Shanna's humungous boobs?

2 Thunderbolts 116 - very fine, unusual group shot. Like this a lot.

1 Silver Surfer Requiem 4 - great cover - the surfer being carried along, barely visible amongst the heads and the grey swirls. Ambitious idea that has come off superbly well, in my opinion.

I disagree about Ms. Marvel 18 by Greg Horn being boring. I love greg Horn's art. But I agree with you on Marko Djurdjevic covers.

Greg horn is a great artist but, that ms marvel cover is just about the most boring one I've ever seen.

I disagree. I think it's one of the more striking covers of the bunch. The clothing is beautifully rendered and the overall romantic enigmatic feel of it is pretty captivating.

I know it's hard to notice anything other than missing nipples and raping tentecles in the heroes for hire cover, but does anyone else think that Misty Knight looks bizarely light skinned for a black character?
What's the deal with that?

I will pile on and say this was a truly bland month of covers. Not much exciting at all. I do like the Iron Fist, Cable & Deadpool, and Star-Lord covers.

On the First Class cover, Professor X is thinking dirty, dirty thoughts about Jean, and it is causing the team physical pain.

He's Rocket Raccoon, he starred in a mini by Bill Mantlo and Mike Mignola... so, HELLS YEAH.

Also, one of my favorite old-timey Marvel Monsters, Groot, is on that cover. He may make an appearance later in the year. Keep your eyes peeled.
