I watched that show as a kid, and I was very glad to find a tape of it at a lfea market a few years ago. I have the game for the NES too, I think.

Hah! The Bucky cartoon was definitely a hit with me and my friends when we were young’ns. How can it be that this only ran 13 episodes?

I believe I had one or two of the comics when I was a young’in. As well as some of the toys. I seem to recall always liking Blinky in particular.

I am loving the intro, I must say. “Get the funky-fresh rabbit who can take care of it”? Oh, ’90s.

A quibble on the premise: ducks ain’t mammals, and haven’t been since 1758 when Linnaeus named the classes. Regardless of whether one believes they descended from dinosaurs or not, ducks and other birds(class Aves) lay eggs and have feathers, whereas mammals have live young & produce milk to feed them, and have fur.

(As if that’s the unbeliveable part of the plot – that a bird would take a side in a mammal/amphibia war!)

No way. The best spaceship names in fiction belong to the enormous ships of the Culture, from the novels of Iain M. Banks.

What’s even neater is that, story-wise, these names are chosen by the ultra-intelligent AIs that will inhabit and operate the ships, so the names represent the ship’s self-image in some way.

For example, the GCU Prosthetic Conscience.
(GCU is the ship type, in this case General Contact Unit)

GSV No More Mister Nice Guy
(GSV: General Systems Vehicle, the largest kind)

GCU Very Little Gravitas Indeed

GCU It’s Character Forming

GCU Big Sexy Beast

GCU Boo!

GCU Poke It With A Stick

GSV Experiencing A Significant Gravitas Shortfall

And: GCU Grey Area, which is called MeatF***er by the other ships, because of its habit of probing and manipulating the minds of humans.
