Cool... the mind-as-house motif is also a very common dream image. Y'know those dreams where you're wandering around your old school or the place you grew up in, and you know that's where you are even though things are superficially unrecognisable. Clever stuff from teh Morrison. I think his best work might be yet to come and will be intrigued to see what he does once his DC exclusive runs down. Morrison: PHASE IV?!

Excellent, fascinating article. Just a quick point, the inspiration for that particular Future Shock was almost certainly 'The Numbskulls', an old Beano strip about the little men who live inside and operate the lead character.

**Spoilers for 'The Filth'**
***
**
*
This is similar to the Hand taking up residence in Greg's body at the end of The Filth, which Morrison has said was directly inspired by The Numbskulls.

/Spoilers

Speaking of The Filth, when is DC going to realise the tremendous punning opportunity that is 'Absolute Filth'? :)

Ulysses Sweet was quality and I once shamelessly plagiarised "Candy and the Catchman" for an English essay.

Nice to see this sort of stuff getting a mention on here, but I really do feel the need to say that Alan Moore was by some distance the master of the form. The recent collection of these stories is probably the only way many American readers will get the chance to see what we're talking about: http://tinyurl.com/2mw69b

I'd love to hear more and am particularly interested in the idea, which I've never heard before, that Arkham Asylum is "much-maligned." Or how about a re-examination of St Swithin's Day?

J. Kube is Johnny Johnstone, at least according to 2000AD online. But I don't know much about him other that the work he did for 2000AD around that time.

Speaking of "Maniac for Hire", does anyone know anything about the artist J. Kube? Sounds like a pseudonym, and cbdb.com doesn't have any other data on him. Anyone?

Interesting stuff, Tim, and what a cool story! I wish Morrison's British stuff was more readily available in trade, but then, which comics fan doesn't?
