Who would you model them on today?

An interesting thing about characters created in the Golden Age is that, visually, a VERY common practice by artists of the day was to base characters upon popular (or at least popular enough) movie actors. Needed a leading man-type? Base the character’s visual on a leading man actor. And so on, and so forth.
Which leads me to today’s fun little game, which is, quite often, people like to play “Cast the Superman movie” or whatever, but in those instances, we are basing the look on the established Superman look, which, in turn, was based upon a movie actor. What I am asking today is, if you were the artist in charge of creating the visual for Superman TODAY, as if he was invented TODAY, which movie actors/actresses would you use as the basis for the following characters:
Superman
Clark Kent
Lois Lane
Jimmy Olsen
Bruce Wayne
Batman
Alan Scott
Wonder Woman
Captain Marvel
Mary Marvel
Captain Marvel, Jr.
Lex Luthor
Sivana
Robin
Joker
Two-Face
Catwoman
Now, remember, you don’t have to stick to ANY preconceived visual here. Just who you think would be your pick for a “Mild-Mannered Reporter,” etc.
Have fun!

It’s actually pretty tough to escape the existing depictions of the characters, but here goes:
Superman: The Rock- A big, tall strapping guy who still seems humble despite his success. Could put you at ease with his mega-watt grin.
Clark Kent: Matt Damon- In the “Bourne” movies, he proved he could be generally unassuming and able to easily blend into a crowd, but I liked how he was always vigilantly soaking up his environment, observing and watching.
Lois Lane: Zooey Deschanel- Smart, sassy, and has a quality that lets you know she would appreciate the inherent majesty and absurdity of a flying man in tights. (Plus, SHE should have been Lois in Superman Returns!)
Jimmy Olsen: Shia LeBouf- C’mon, I dare you NOT to think of him as a modern day Jimmy Olsen
Bruce Wayne/Batman: Denzel Washington- Handsome, charming, comfortable in his own skin, but capable of chilling you to the bone with his fury or steely resolve.
Alan Scott: Sam Elliot- the wise, calm voice of reason.
Wonder Woman: Serena Williams- powerful, athletic, strong, but gifted with definite, almost exaggerated, feminine attributes.
Captain Marvel: Matthew McConaughey- affable, handsome man-child
Mary Marvel: Emma Roberts (the new Nancy Drew)-Sweet, but not annoyingly precocious.
Captain Marvel, Jr.: I’m stumped, so why not Freddie Prinze, Jr.?
Lex Luthor: Dick Cheney- ‘Nuff said
Sivana: Alan Rickman- From “Die Hard” to the Harry Potter films, he’s at his best as a frustrated, mad genius who is constantly frustrated by interloping do-gooders.
Robin: Justin Timberlake. Actually, I see him more as Nightwing. Outwardly fun-loving and the life of the party, but his success was built on an intense work ethic and focus.
Joker: Sascha Baron Cohen (“Borat”)-The guy would do anything for a laugh…no matter who gets hurt.
Two-Face: George Clooney- In a better movie, he would have been the perfect Batman. And since Bruce Wayne and Harvey Dent are almost two sides of the same coin…
Catwoman: Shakira- slinky, sensual, exotic and facially, a veritable chameleon. She can look like Beyonce one minute and Madonna the next.

I’d imagine Wonder Woman would be modeled on Angelina Jolie.

Shia LeBouf is a good choice for Jimmy Olsen, but I was thinking Topher Grace.

Good picks for Jimmy Olsen.
How about Mark Hammill as the Joker?

I’d ‘cast’ the characters from newuniversal but Larocca and Ellis beat me to it.

I always imagined Catherine Zeta-Jones as Wonder Woman. Exotic, regal, intelligent. Check out her performance in the first Zorro film.

Although he’s a little old now, Richard E. Grant would have been the ultimate Joker.

Superman – Lou Ferrigno. Odd choice? Maybe. Alex Ross likes to make Supes a bit older. Plus, have you seen him lately? He’s hella big! Bigger than he was on HULK. Check out “Standing Tall” on the “Trial of the incredible Hulk” DVD. The Rock is a great idea Jack!
Lois Lane – Jeanine Garafalo. “Ditch the glasses, Superman.”
Bruce Wayne – Leonardo DiCaprio. I’ve been saying for a while that he would make a great Tony Stark- an arrogant playboy / hollywood-type. I think he’d be a good Batman too, because he has a very intense look nowadays, and this teeny days are long over.
Wonder Woman – Lucy Lawless / Kelly Craig. This one’s a toughie.
Dr. Strange – Dave Navarro; formerly of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Of course, Dr. Stranges isn’t on the list, but I couldn’t resist- it’s too good at match! At least I think so.

Captain Marvel Jr. – Patrick Warburton, of the Tick fame, would be great.
Wonder Woman – Angela Basset
Ian Astheimer

He’s not an actor (or even alive, for that matter), but Peter Jennings always struck me as being perfect for the Clark Kent/Superman role.

Someone beat me to to Brendan “Captain Marvel” Fraser and Catherine “Wonder Woman” Zeta-Jones, but I have to nominate Willem Dafoe as the Joker. Imagine that creeeepy grin of his under Joker make-up.

How about Christopher Walken as the Joker? Yikes!!!

I see Christopher Walken more as Mr. Freeze.
Let me second Willem Dafoe’s nomination for the Joker role.
And the guy who played the Tick in the TV series, whose name woefully eludes me, would be an awesome Captain Marvel.
Oh, and Chris Rock as Plastic Man.

I’d use Firefly/Serenity’s Morena Baccarin (sp?) for Wonder Woman. Similar qualities as Catherine Zeta-Jones but seems a little less fragile.

I’ve never seen Zeta-Jones as WW. It could be because my wife refuses to call her anything but “Fat Cow,” even post-pregnancy.
Captain Marvel, Jr. is James Franco.

An actor named Erik Dellums who played crime boss Luther Mahoney in ‘Homicide: Life on the Street’ would make a perfect Joker.
And if anyone but Armin Shimerman is even considered for Dr.Sivina… well, I’ll stamp my little foot, I will.
I’ve always thought Linda Fiorentino would make a great Lois Lane.
And I still think Kevin Spacey’s a perfect Luthor. He just didn’t have a perfect script.

Yeah – Kevin Spacey could be a good Lex Luthor, as could Gene Hackman. Unfortunately the script + direction called for both of them to play Lex as a comedy character.
I’m not sure about Wonder Woman, but I think she would work best if she was latin or black.
Brendan Fraser as Captain Marvel is spot on.

WOW!
Morena Baccarin == Wonder Woman!!!
and
Armin Shimmerman == Dr. Sivana!!!
Nobody can touch either of these choices.
