Wow, maybe some of you guys should try writing this column everyday.

One of the things I love about comics is the sheer weirdness that they're capable of, and yeah, Eye-Scream fits that bill. He's gotta have a shot at cracking an X-roster one day.

I think there's a distinction to be made between an appreciation of what the comics medium can be - a forum in which the imagination can run absolutely wild - and the ideas produced within that forum. The former is definitely a reason to love comics...but it doesn't follow that the latter automatically get a free pass every time. Eye-Scream is far-out...but let's face it, he's also kind of stupid. Were I new to the X-universe, he wouldn't exactly inspire me with a burning desire to explore further, let's put it that way.

I think this is an EXAMPLE of how comics can be fun, but not really a reason to LOVE comics. There's just not enough material in Eye-Scream for it to carry on to a love of the medium.

It's not that I have a problem with silly characters at all, either. But I have a big problem with shallow one-note characters, and a bigger problem with puns. So, yeah this entry doesn't really spin my hula hoop, so to speak.

What if someone ate some of the Ice Cream, when he reformed, would he be missing a leg for example? Or can he become as much Ice Cream as he wants?
I've never heard of this dude but I think he is a reason to love comics.

I guess this just strikes me as another odd choice. I mean, while Eye-Scream is interesting, he is so obscure and so lame that he really isnâ€™t much for a reason to love comics. This article can be pretty awesome, but its days like this that it seems it slips into â€œ365 Obscure Things Appearing in Comics that No One Cares About.â€

I care about I-Scream. Read this book over and over as a kid. It was cute. If you care about Civil War or what-the-fuck ever, there's the rest of the blogsphere for that. Droning. Endlessly. On. Seems to me one of the major points of this feature is to demonstrate the breadth of what mainstream comics can do. In general, I'm all for a return of more surrealistic elements, especially in superhero books. (Jack Cole's Plastic Man is probably my favorite superhero book ever.) So it's nice to see a feature that shows that weirdness-for-weirdness sake is not only POSSIBLE but used to be prominent.

You need to focus man!
Not every obscure character deserve attention.
Most of the times, there is a reason they are obscure!

Awesome.

This is what's so great about comics. They can be as serious as Watchmen or as blatantly surreal as Eye-Scream or Obnoxio The Clown an still be great.

They can be boring as hell too as many comics today. But they don't need to be. Comics only need to be good.

I agree that weird characters like this are a great reason to love comics. This is something that could only appear in comics!

I'll buy it. Eye-Scream is the perfect example of why the Marvel Universe is such a great environment if you don't take it too seriously. To wit: "How in the blankety-blue-blazes does someone get the ability to melt into ice cream?" "Well, he's a mutant." "Oh. 'Nuff said. Hey, is it getting dark early?" "Well, the forecast did call for a sixty percent chance of Ego the Living Planet today."
