No, that’s still a terrible idea. Not only has that story been ripped off millions of times already, sticking superheroes in there doesn’t add anything new to it. It’s just a tired retread.

I assume you meant to say “… appearing as though he IS mocking the original concept.” Because he really isn’t, right? Because last time I checked, there were lots and lots and lots of contemporary writers who are perfectly capable of writing as if they ARE mocking the original concepts.

It was an errant “n’t” and yes, plenty of writers are quite adept at mocking Silver Age concepts. Or rather, “showing their love for them by showing us how dumb the original stories were”

So it’s one thing to be careless – it’s a whole other thing to hallucinate stuff.

Agreed BUT why did they start so late in the run–in fact, at run’s end? The TPB spine does not have a number on it, suggesting that they won’t be doing the half-year-or-so that preceeded it. Which is a crying shame. That said, the cover of Cap 253 (which IS included) is one of my all-time favourite comic covers:

I’ll trust your word and stay away. JP is so hit and miss. CLAWS was a good idea with disgusting execution on the writing front (and the art only made it worse), meanwhile JONAH HEX is one of the very best books on the market right now.

Mega Cheers from me for FVL managing to write so great an issue of Fantastic Four/Power Pack that there wasn’t even a tiny bit of quality lost from Sumerak’s issues, which are probably the best thing Marvel has been putting out in the last year. ”
