In a perverse way, I’m really looking forward to seeing Bachallo’s Spider-Man. Although I do generally like his style when he’s not trying to do kinetic action sequences. Which is like the meat of most Spider-Man comics, but still… One cool thing about Zeb Wells is that he used to post on the Spider-Man board back when I moderated it. He was a cool guy. I’ve only read a couple of his comics (and was kind of underwhelmed by that giant monster thing he did with the late Seth Fischer), but I’m willing to give this weekly Spidey thing a shot, even if MJ winds up in a refrigerator or something.

That looks like a decent team of writers (though I’m not familiar with Guggenheim) but I really don’t like the move to a weekly comic by a team of writers. It’s this approach that has sucked the life out of the Superman and Batman books in the past.

I’ve found most of the stuff Wells has written to be real mediocre, especially the last few things he’s done for Marvel (even the Marvel Adventures Spider-Man issues). He’s not offensive, but he’s not great either.

I wonder if these are guys that would not only fit the tone (slightly more light-hearted, which is good) but also the editorial limits that are necessary in this sort of One Title approach.

Zeb Wells has written some really good stories in the past, and Bob Gale’s handful of previous comics weren’t bad either. Besides, they’re part of a team here, and it’s more about the strength of the team than having an all-star cast.

Thats funny I thought Slott was the weak link in that line-up and the choices of Gale and Wells were out there but perfect. Not saying I wouldn’t have also liked Fraction, but I’m good with this current crop.

Well McNiven did the monthly MK 4 for about 6 months uninteruppted, and then he did a full arc of on-time issues of New Avengers. You’re assesment is wrong.

I expected Salvador Larroca and Bachalo to be a bad fit, but from what I’ve seen of their preview art, it’s actually quite good!! I also expected Jiminez to come off as an overdetailed Perez clone with long, gangly figures and goofy effeminate faces and based on the preview art…he didn’t disappoint.

Did anything on the Didio shirt make it look like the Jimmy Olsen ads? The lettering, the color, etc?

Cause it’s kinda funny on that level, but I can quite easily see someone being screwed up enough to wear something like that in anger instead of in jest.

Looks like “Titans East” has a good chance of stealing the Worst Creative Team Eisner from “Onslaught Reborn”.

I think the shirt was first mentioned as a joke by one of the editors, and DiDio went along with it. Nothing too nefarious.

I went to the “DC Big Guns” (whatever that means) panel on Sunday, and when DiDio appeared from nowhere and walked up to the mike as a joke to needle his editors, Eddie Berganza, who was “moderating,” held up a “Dan DiDio Must Die” shirt in the style of those Countdown “Jimmy Olsen Must Die” ads. Is that the same shirt we’re talking about? Does that mean that Berganza got one from the crazed fan? Just curious.

Sounds like it was done for a laugh though.

Iâ€™ll pick up Amazing Spidey for a while and see where it leads. Iâ€™d prefer Fraction and Kirkman in the Wells/Gale roles, but Iâ€™ll give them all a free pass for a few months.

Wells did a couple of good ‘tangled web’ stories, and Gale’s DD run, though ignored, was fun.

I just like the idea of Marvel saying Spidey was going to be more fun, and then actually putting on teams that make me believe it – DC should learn from that.
So if MJ’s still in the book, I’m there.

And how weird will a Bachalo Spideran look?
It never crossed my mind that he’d want to do that!

I can’t remember which panel it was on, but Busiek made yet another mention of that “big project he couldn’t yet talk about” so apparently something is coming. Maybe a series or followup after DC’s Final Crisis?

Hmmmm…. Back when Kurt Busiek left Aquaman he said it was because he had an idea for some super project. I figured that it would be announced at comicon and yet I didn’t hear anything. I wonder what that project was and if it is still in the works?
