The ONE soilders are supposed to be rather trained and disciplined, and not go off half cocked and start a war on behalf of the United States. (He fired unprovoked on the Queen of Wakanada) Now _THAT_ would be a story worth following up on. We won't see it, mind you.

Thanks for taking the time to check out the book! Just want to point out that this is the first issue of ten, not three or four - seems strange to believe I'd lay everything out so baldly from the start... Still, definitly appreciate the support in spite of the fact that it's not a preferred genre for you. Hope to hear more of your thoughts as the book continues.

And definitly check out Dark Tower - Tom's right about the fourth book basis, but I would definitly recommend finishing all of the books first. It's not necessary but it definitly adds even more depth to the experience.

You know what would be cool? If, once all these "Based on ideas by Grant Morrison" titles are cancelled (and sadly, I'm afraid they will be), DC were to put them all in the same book. Either as an anthology title with the creative teams intact, or as an actual team with Grant himself at the helm. The Atom and Metal Men are probably DC's highest-profile properties that will never in a million years support their own titles, but together? Maybe toss in some other too-weird-or-cultish-for-the-mainsteam guys like the Challs or Sea Devils? If the new Outsiders made it this long, these guys should be cake.

Brubaker seems to get Xavier better than anyone since Lobdell (yes, SCOTT Lobdell). Chuck's always been willing to walk dangerously close to the abuse-of-power line, often doing uncomfortably not-right things in not-wrong-either manner; nice to see that Bru gets that.

Speaking of Uncanny, is anyone else a little weirded-out by how Storm's face is looking these days? In theory, I applaud the idea of making her appear more ethnically African (though isn't she like 3rd generation Afro-Causasian?) and not just like a white woman painted brown, but she looks...well, ugly in both Uncanny and FF. Storm's supposed to have an alien beauty, not look like an alien.

Great issue though.

The first series is based on the fourth book of the Stephen King book series but, the second series of the Marvel adaptation will go further than that depicted in the book series.

Apparently, Marvel is planning something like a 30 issues series set in the character's past that wasn't covered in the book series.

I guess we're heading into the heart of darkness!

Besides, it's a gorgeous piece of art. How can you not beat that! Wait for the trade or hardcover if you want.

A couple of asides:
Ross has been chasing the Hulk for years and has come as close if not closer than anyone else to stopping him when he is on a rampage. Yeah it was futile, but he was the best man for the job.

Larocca draws terrible Sentinels. You wouldn't even know they were Sentinels unless it was mentioned in the story.

Read the fourth Dark Tower book and you should be set for the mini-series, from what I've heard.

And Welcome to Tranquility is quite good, yeah.

You know, even with Sleepwalker and the Nextwave incarnation of Machine Man on the cover, I *still* won't buy Ms. Marvel. It's just that bland.

I was going to try out Faker, now not so sure. Eh, maybe I'll wait for the trade as well.
