Some Nifty Aragones News

Apparently, I missed it, but the great Sergio Aragones is apparently going to be following Darwyn Cooke as writer on The Spirit, and meanwhile, on Aragones’ upcoming Bat Lash project, the artist will be John freakin’ Severin!!

Wow, that is some nifty news right there.

I love John Severin and Aragones. That is awesome. I was actually just reading Essential Hulk Vol 4 with Severin on inks, and wishing he did more work currently. Great news.

Apparently, it is QUITE old news, from last year, according to my pal Loren!

Oops! I guess I just totally missed the announcement!

Also, according to his blog, newsfromme.com, Mark Evanier will be providing the dialogue to Aragones’ plots.

This is really out of left field. Should be interesting though.

I’m a big fan of Severin’s art so I’ll be giving this a look. He’s really an unsung great of the comic art world.

That’s old news? It’s new to me! Sounds pretty darn cool.

I did not hear about the Bat Lash news, but that’s terrific. Bat Lash is truly one of comics’ unappreciated masterpieces, and I hope the new project pushes DC to reprint them.

You know just when I’m beginning to despair about everything going on at DC, news like this comes to give me a little hope (and something to still buy of theirs). I loved Darwyn Cooke’s Spirit, but I can’t think of a more inspired choice of a creator to follow in the footsteps of Will Eisner than Sergio Aragones. That’s just pure genius. I hope they get a great artist to do it justice.

I am glad to hear that I am not the only one who did not hear the Severin news at all. :)
