Galactus is, of course, a gentleman. You will notice that he also has a manservant to make his dinner bookings for him?

Truely, he is the “Original G”.

It may be sacrilege to say so, but the anatomy in that picture is pretty bad.

Apodaca- Are you saying you know what Galactus anatomy looks like?

Yep. It’s pretty easy, since he’s a fictional character and all.

Apodaca must be referring to the extraordinary length of G’s thighs.
If I recall from my life drawing class, World devourers have thighs that 1/3 Longer than his torso…
(Oh and once, Reed Richards had two left hands. No reason was given. He just had two left hands. )

Why you no fun, Dan? Leave poor anatomically-challenged Galactus alone! He doesn’t make fun of your unusually large pinkie toe, does he?

Reed has stretchy fingers. He can have whatever kind of hands he wants.

Why do you think Galactus has worn that skirt all these years? To hide his freakish thighs! And you know that giant hat is to disguise his Beetlejuice head. He’s built like the Eiffel Tower, man!

” but the dude knows how to max and relax in his crib, I’ll tell you that much! All he needs is a pipe, and he’s set!”
It’s Taa II at Night.
There’s a bunch of centerfolds and Barbie Benton frugging next to his foot, but it’s hard to see.
“It may be sacrilege to say so, but the anatomy in that picture is pretty bad.”
It’s the foreshortening. When you’re 50′ tall, it gets pretty extreme. At least he has feet.

What’s this panel from? That Hercules miniseries?
And I remember Reed’s two left hands! It was from some splash page where he was thrown out of a window on the Baxter Building … the hands were kinda small so I can see how the artist (Buckler?) could have made that mistake.

“(Oh and once, Reed Richards had two left hands. No reason was given. He just had two left hands.”
That was his left hand and his gripping hand. His right hand just wasn’t shown.

That would be Dazzler #11, joecab. Just after Alison proves herself to the Big G and he sends her back to Earth. Her valor makes him brood!

His thighs are too big and his head is too small. My reason for pointing it out was that people often complain about me and others picking on certain contemporary artists for their poor anatomy. I thought I should make a point of being fair and pointing it out when I noticed in this picture.
I still love Galactus. Even when he makes fun of my toes.
P.S. Greg, to help you in future jabs, my pinkie toe is normal-sized, but on each foot, the toe right next to the big one is crooked.

Heh… this discussion just makes me laugh!
First of all foreshortening makes things look shorter not longer… But now that you have pointed it out, one thigh is running parallel to the picture plane, so we can see its length without any foreshortening at all. The far thigh is somewhat foreshortened, but appears to be the same length. That means its actually longer that the near leg. Maybe Galactus also has stretching powers.
And yes, the big G has a small head compared to the rest of his body. That’s just clever character design. By making the legs long, the shoulders broad, and the head small, Galactus always looks like a giant, even when there is no other frame of reference.
However, Mutt, you’ve just blown my mind! We are all applying human standards to a being who predates creation! Now, I firmly believe that his skull goes all the way up to the tip of that hat!
And I think the two handed Reed was in a Kirby splash page. And what’s more Reed took up most of the spash page reaching right at the viewer with those big left hands of his!!!! Maybe during a time he was drawing all non-Ditko Marvel books. I think I have it an Essential stored away some where.
Ok, just googled it! Here’s the image: http://www.dialbforblog.com/archives/26/ff88p1_big.gif
I love the internets: I just googled the words:
“Mr. Fantastic Reed Richard two left hands”
and I found it in seconds…
And yet I have know idea what my congressperson actually does.

IIRC, the one with Reed falling out of the building was when one of his feet was a hand. (I.e., as he was falling head-first, one of his legs was stretching upwards and there was a hand at the end of it.)

Ah thanks Ken, that was what I meant.

“IIRC, the one with Reed falling out of the building was when one of his feet was a hand. (I.e., as he was falling head-first, one of his legs was stretching upwards and there was a hand at the end of it.)”
The double left handed Reed as drawn by Kirby was awesome enough but Mister Fantastic once swapped one of his feet out for a hand? This I have to see.

Every artist makes a real bonehead mistake sooner or later. Kirby is obviously no exception. I don’t know when exactly the “double left handed Reed” was done, but I’d cut him some slack. At one point, what was he was drawing, 8 or 9 titles per month? So if he totally hosed the anatomy in one panel, I’ll let him off.
Besides, a King can do pretty much whatever he wants! Long live Jack “King” Kirby, may he rest in peace.

I can’t remember the original issue, but that panel was reprinted in the Official Marvel No-Prize Book (a great source for other mistakes). I’ve looked for my copy, but can’t find it
I’ll keep looking, and if I find it I’ll scan it.
