Despite what Ian said, it wasn't just the Ultimate version-- Hank McCoy did turn furry after drinking a formula of his own invention. It was in Amazing Adventures # 11. I have that issue, which is shocking, because I'm poor and I never spend very much for any single book. Somehow I managed to find that one for a quarter. It had the original price crossed out with a black marker, which is why I assume it had no value. But it was a great deal because the cover art and the interior pages are all in good shape.

I'm horribly shocked that Kitty ranked so low.

Awesome stuff. I'm glad to see them all do so well, especially Madrox and Kitty, but it never ceases to amaze me how popular Beast is. I like 'im, but he's waaayyy down the list of X-characters for me. I'm expecting it's a real longshot that Wolfsbane and Rictor are going to make it now. I was hoping they'd make some lists next to Madrox. Most of the rest of mine are going to make the top 50, I think. I'm probably the only person who voted for MJ and edged Spidey off the list, so that's not too bad. Hawkeye and Wolverine still remain.

Madrox is out of the blue for me. If I didn't happen to get the solo Madrox TPB that Peter David did really cheap on eBay I'd never have even heard of the character. That said it's an excellent TPB so I'm happy to see Madrox here.

Lost interest in the X-Men decades ago so 20-16 are a bust for me. In fact, this portion of the list actually contains my #1 least favorite Marvel character and one of the reasons I stopped reading the X-Titles.

The only X-character who made my personal Top Ten was Banshee. I wonder if he'll still appear? :-)

... no, I'm not serious ...

Well, Jean’s a favorite of mine and I’m glad to see her in the top 20 - but she was beat by Madrox and Deadpool? And it looks like Cyclops is going to top her as well? That is just…odd. Last Summer the X-Boards did a big top 50 X-Men similar to this and the top five went (from number one to five): Nightcrawler, Rogue, Shadowcat, Jean Grey and Cyclops. Rogue placed much lower in this and Beast (and presumably Cyclops and Wolverine) are going to be above Shadowcat and Jean Grey.

Nightcrawler won with just one first place vote. He’s just a generally liked character I guess. It will be interesting to see how high he ranks in this.
Remember, that list was done with about 80 ballots cast.

This one has had almost six HUNDRED cast.

In addition, if you're told you HAVE to pick an X-Men character, folks like Kitty and Rogue will make most lists. If you can pick ANY Marvel character, then not so much.

All solid choices, though Wade Wilson is way too low. I blame Marvel for not trading more of the Kelly run and people being afraid to try Nicieza's Cable/Deadpoool series.

Well I can write the same thin here I did in the DC comments-

Well, I’ve only seen 2 of my top ten so far–does that mean the other 8 are in the top 15?

Probably not, but I should see a couple of them at least.

*pats Da Fug consolingly* There, there...I don't get pretty much the entire JLA, 'cepting Batman and maybe Martian Manhunter, so I know exactly how you feel.

Actually, I'm finding that's one of the most fascinating things about this list; how a character that means the world to one fan lands with a hollow *klunk* in the brain of another.

"X-fans rally around their faves and ‘traditionalists’ decry the placing of “X-characters”"

I don't know what it's like for other people, but I just can't give a crap about any of the X-characters. I bought many an X-title back in the day and recently read the entire Morrison run and I still just never care about what happens to any of them. For some reason, they just never resonate with me.

I want to like what lots of other people like. But I just don't get it.

I had Kitty, Beast and Madrox in my Top 10. I'm fairly certain I had Madrox at #2.

But he's been my #2 for more than a decade. I had no idea that many other people liked him. I guess I just didn't realize how much his recent exposure had bolstered him.

Oh, and I HATE Deadpool. I'm surprised he made it this high as well.

Both Kitty and Beast were a good deal higher halfway through, and both fell backwards quite a bit (I mean, like, from 7th and 11th to here).

One character, in particular, surprised me by rising from, like, 30th to, like, 9th.

As opposed to Cyclops, who, last I saw, doesn't have anything resembling a personality, AND is expected to be in the top 15 by many.

But my recent exposure to him if through HoM, Civil War & WWH crossovers.
