Hmmm...assuming the final four are Batman, Superman, Wally West, and Hal Jordan, that leaves off some interesting ones.

I'm not as up on DC as I am on Marvel, but I'm very surprised there was no Lobo, especially since he was recently re-introduced in 52. Also I had the impression Adam Strange and Demon were more popular.

And it looks like Jim Gordon's a no-go, also a surprise.

Comparable really. Hawkeye was at 8 and Green Arrow at 7.

He he. I take glee in assuming my first place votes for Huntress helped JUST push her onto the list over Mystery Character #51.

As for my take, yeah different origins, etc., but they're still basically the same character. Heck, how many DC characters except for maybe Batman have maintained a consistant origin over the years? Aquaman's has changed. So has Green Arrow's, Black Canary's, Wonder Woman's, Power Girl's, the Justice League's, even some core elements of Superman's have been 'tweaked' over the years, especially following the first Crisis. So, I think Brian did it the right way or else his head would have exploded trying to differentiate between them all...

BTW- I know Black Adam is Egyptian, which is why I said Caucasian instead of White. Egyptian is considered Caucasion in the admittedly clunky way such things are decided.

Spectre and Swamp Thing began as white men. Death and Dream are drawn to appear as white people. (Really, really white. heh.)

With the exception of three aliens, everybody on the list either is or appears to be Caucasian. And I don't see that changing in the top ten unless Amanda Waller makes it.

Don't get me wrong, it's definitely not some "Oh, DUH, OBVIOUSLY they should count as two characters!" thing. Huntress is a weird one. Like, it's basically the same character, but with different parents. But the parents were so important to the Earth-2 version. (And, IIRC, the current Huntress as well.)

1. I just addressed the same Huntress question on the entry with her on it. But to recap what I said there, I don't think the two Huntresses ARE really all that separate people. She just had to have her origin changed, much like Power Girl.

2. Brown, Custer and Jersualem are all, in part, owned by DC Comics. Marvel does not own Pilgrim and Walker at all.

This is a really solid list. Just two quibbles:

1.It really doesn't seem right to combine the votes for Helena Bertinelli and Helena Wayne. They're two very different characters.

2. Some people raised this concern at the time, but it really seems odd to count creator owned characters like Brown, Custer, and Jerusalem alongside the rest, especially when Walker and Pilgrim weren't eligible in the Marvel poll.
