There were seven founders of Image Comics. Whilce Portacio was a founder, but he stepped down as one of the owners before publishing under Wildstorm. If I recall correctly, he had some health and immigration issues at the time that delayed the publication of Wetworks.

I’d pick Larsen as the best writer and the best artists.

There was a time I’d have picked McFarlane, but Larsen definitely has it for me these days.

Larsen’s probably my favorite writer in the Image bunch, and he gets mega-kudos for continuing to write and draw his comic books. But all I’ve seen from him is super-heroes. Valentino, I think, has more range. So I’d need to pick Valentino.

Best artist? I’d have to pick Lee, but Larsen is my favorite of the bunch — because he’s still out there doing comics regularly.

Sue Dibny appeared (along with pretty much everyone else from the Marvel and DC Universes) on the cover of JLA/Avengers #3.

All “straightforward” means is “direct.”

Therefore, the solutions are all direct ones, not ones that include circuitous thinking.

All the answers are simple one sentence solutions. “They were all featured in series written by Peter Milligan.” “They’re all Dan Jurgens’ creations.” “They all died in the first Crisis.” “They’re all princesses/princes.” “They all feature white characters who turned black.” “They all feature characters who ____” (for the outstanding one you mentioned).

If an answer has to involve major stretches for it to work, then the odds are that it was not the intended theme. Although I do enjoy the creativity of the answers!!

you have a very warped idea of “straightforward.” Remember the Beetle/Lois Lane one? Or how about the still-outstanding (as in “waiting to be answered,” not “really great”) Flying Tiger/Scorpion/Green Goblin one?

I’d take that answer if it was a cover with Matches ON it (and now that you mention it, using Matches on a cover is a great future idea ), but as he wasn’t on the Squad cover (was he even the identity Batman used INside the comic that issue?), I don’t think it counts.

I really liked Guardians of the Galaxy and also thought the issues that Valentino wrote of the second What If? series were great, so I have to give the nod for writer to Valentino based on that. Larsen is close behind, though. Lee is the best artist. McFarlane would be very competitive with him for that…if he actually drew anything regularly any more.
