Well, that just gets down to how super speed is, and always has been, depicted in comics. NOBODY should be able to dodge blows from the Flash, and under a “realistic” interpretation, the Flash could have most villains disabled and in jail before they even SEE him, much less have time to utter their first “Bah!”

But it’s well-established comic book precedent that you don’t explore the full implications of super speed powers, so people can and do dodge blows from the Flash fairly often.

Boo. It totally ate my comment explaining why the Batman/motorcycle drawing looks so wrong. *sigh*

Depends who’s facing off, particularly if that character can resist mind blasts. Because if my brain was encased in glass, you can bet I’d be worried about the guy with the big baseball bat…

But you figure that even if he can’t control Guy X, he’d be able to control Guys Y and Z and have THEM protect him!

After talking with Keith Champagne, I actually have a lot of enthusiasm about Countdown: Arena and I think it’s going to be awesome. ^_^

If he can pull a rabbit out of this dreary hat, then I will certainly tip my hat to him.

Last time he was given an awful assignment to do, though, he wasn’t able to rise above it (World War III).

For the first time in my life…I’m growing bored by James Jean. This month’s cover isn’t striking. It looks like something that Jean has done before — and done better.

I think it is just this current story arc – it is limiting Jean, I think.

Shane Davis appears to be channeling Jim Lee. Which is good in its own way but would seem to bump the artist out of superstar status.

I think we have seen more than a few artists channel Jim Lee on their way to comic art “stardom.”

Regarding the Blue Beetle cover- it resembles Action Comics #583 (the last issue before the John Byrne reboot) but I think it’s patterned after Legion of Super-Heroes #259, the issue where Superboy leaves the Legion.

I think you are spot on.

In fairness, Ice has used a GL ring before. In an old issue of JL Quarterly she used Guy’s ring to cure Professor Ivo’s mutation (it didn’t stick).

I still cannot believe that Mark Waid wrote that issue AND STILL decided she was worth killing off a couple of years later.

But what’s really worth noting, Brian, is that the cover to the Secret Files is not an original drawing by Reis — that’s a reprint of the splash page to that very same issue I just mentioned, GL #21. Yeah, it would’ve made sense to put Sinestro & Co. on the cover to a Sinestro Corps Secret Files, but I guess they already used that image on the GL #21 cover! So they recycled the splash page with Hal & Co.

Oh good! So that means this is likely NOT the final cover then, right?

That Tony Daniel batman cover would be somewhat accurate IF Bats were going into a left hand corner, hard. But, looking at the backgrounds, he is just cruising down the alley. Plus, the perspective is really forced, so it would need to be a long low drag bike as well. eh.

Agreed, if that was the case, I could understand the drawing more.

On that Teen Titans cover, it looks to me like Ravager is dodging – basically by way of a quick backwards lunge – and not, at the moment, doing anything with the swords besides hanging on to them.
