The Gatherer’s Saga was where I first encountered Dane. His appearances in Thomas’ and Stern’s Avengers cemented my love of the character.

I still think writers have barely scratched the surface of his potential.

I, too, enjoyed the Gatherers story. Dane almost made my list based on that era of the Avengers alone (well, that and the Stern era).

And yes, Goblin Queen was one of several characters who helped cement my ongoing love affair with redheads.

I agree that the Goblyn Queen cemented within me a love of red heads that persists to this day.

I disagree that Mr Sinister was ever cool. I think he is a prime example of the problems of designing a character by committee. He started out somewhat mysterious and intriguing, then quickly became confusing and self-contradictory, then went to lame and silly before finally burning down falling over and sinking into the swamp.

I remember when I was reading X-Men at 10, 11 years old and thinking that Mr. Sinister was soooo cool and mysterious and the Goblyn Queen was soooo hot in that black outfit. Ah, the follies of youth…

Finally! Rick Friggin Jones! Great character. Anyone who has hung out with Cap, Rom, and two versions of Captain Marvel, not to mention Hulk is awesome.

I also am happy for seeing the Black Knight and Kingpin here. Great characters.

Sinister….not so much.

I donâ€™t think some of you realize just how spooky Sinister was for a kid growing up in the late 80s early 90s.

I was born in 85, so I think I qualify for that. I didn’t find him spooky at all. He looked like a transvestite and his crew was populated with guys who had extra-long eyelashes and stuff.

So, do you like him because of how you felt about him at 10?

As far as useless, teenage tag-a-long characters go, I guess Rick Jones is one of the best. Still hard to believe he beat out Kingpin.

Yay Quicksilver and Black Knight!!!

I mean, Quicksilver has been handled especially well by Peter David. I loved reading about hm when I was a kid. Me and my sisters would read the Vision and Scarlet Witch limited series when we were kids, and we always felt so bad for Pietro having a wife like Crystal.

And sure, I can see what you mean about the Black Knight not being one of the heavy hitters in Hulk or Cap’s league, but he did spend a lot of time with the Avengers. He’s a competant guy, who had some really neat stories like that whole Sersi/Procter thing.

I voted for him.

I’m surprised Quicksilver cracked the top 100. His history is just such a mess and he has very rarely, if ever, been heroic or fun. Don’t get me wrong, I like his current place and the use of him recently, but I would never think of him as one of my favorite characters.

Finally we see Black Knight! What the hell is wrong with those of you who didn’t vote for Dane?!?

I’m shocked and amazed (is that redundant?) that Mr. Sinister beat Kingpin. Mind you, I like Mr. Sinister just fine (Gambit too), but I can’t believe he beat out Kingpin.

Hell, I can think of about 20 villains I can’t believe he beat out.
