Wow, Sale really milked dry that "pumpkinhead with a bat-logo for a mouth" idea, huh? The first four covers shown here are all basically the same drawing, only slightly altered for re-use.

I love "Long Halloween" and for getting someone into reading comics for the first time, it can't be beat.

That being said, Ghosts is a a great story, almost somthing of an overlooked gem. Rough and raw compared to their later work, it packs a lot of story into a short format (and if I had a complaint about it its that I wanted more) and does a lot of great character work.

That "Madness" cover is my favorite of all of Sale's Batman covers. My brother currently has all my "Treehouse" comics. I think I need to get 'em back by next year.

Long Halloween #1 would be my favorite. Very simple design. I like the empty space and the fonts used (except the big A at the bottom).

Overall, I'd have to choose the 2nd sale Halloween Special cover, although now that I see them together, they're pretty similar. I kick myself again this year for not carving my pumpkins in such a manner!

I carved two pumpkins for my daughter. One was Donald Duck's face based on a comic strip I had lying nearby, and the other was kind of a cat-mask based on a Halloween mask someone was wearing in a newspaper article lying next to the Donald Duck comic strip. I strung lights through them that go up my sidewalk, which I think should give a neat effect to the trick-or-treaters this evening.

Not to sound ungrateful, but any chance you could add some SCOOBY-DOO covers in there? DC has been doing some exceptional work with that book in terms of covers (stories are so-so, mind).
