I could be wrong but I think Arm-Fall-Off Boy was a fan suggestion from the 60s. I think he's mentioned in a letter column in an old issue of Adventure I have somewhere.

Then he was brought into canon in Grant Morrison's hysterical origin of the Legion Clubhouse. Basically the original clubhouse is Fortress Boy (seen in the background there) with amnesia.

As noted we saw the post-Crisis AFOB during the late 90s Archie Legion.

What issue did Barber Boy and Accordian King appear in? If it’s Adam Hughes doing interiors, I MUST get it!

Legionnaires #9. It also has art by Sprouse & Brian Stelfreeze. Hughes did all of #7, half of #10 and some of #12

One thing about Anti-Lad is that don't forget he fooled the entire Legion into doing his bidding to change the time-stream back to normal.

Not exactly a lame character. :)

So X-Bomb Betty's dad turned his daughter into a walking nuclear explosive? I think the truly terrifying part of that origin is that I can still think of worse parents in comics.

That's one heck of a way to teach your daughter not to break curfew.

Should Estimate Boy even count, given his “footage” came from the Subs issue of Secret Origins? That story was played specifically for laughs.

And the others aren't played for laughs? Well, except Rann Antar, he was serious. :)

The Subs story is still in continuity, however. Well, at least one Legion's continuity.

Do we ever get the Mess’s origin? I think he’s Pigpen from Peanuts all grown up.

If you didn't have an origin, you would at least get one in the "Who's Who of the Legion of Super-Heroes".

The Mess didn't get one.

I think there ought to be room for Double-Header on this list.

I considered him, Matthew, but decided to discount any reject that joined another group, Substitute, villain or otherwise. After all they had shown they were of some use. :)

Also anyone I thought actually had some positives to their power, whilst, at the same time, being totally useless in other ways.

X-Bomb Betty cannot use her power at all or she'll die. However if she decided to sacrifice her life to stop the Sun-Eater, her power would be perfect!

Arm-Fall-Off Boy has the added advantage of a heavy weapon....But at the same time loses any advantage by having one less appendage to fight with.

Barber Boy would be totally useless in a fight, (Except for moussing people in the eyes), but would be perfect for styling Colossal Boy's hair.

I also considered Eyeful Ethel, Tusker, Rainbow Girl, The Polecat & Lester Spiffany, but rejected them for various reasons.
