Which one is your favorite?

Do you have a favorite Seth Fisher cover that you think I should have put in the gallery instead of one of these ten?

What artists would you like to see featured in the future?

Let me know!

This Seth Fisher coverage has inspired me to pick up ‘Big in Japan’. If I can find it.

Absolutely stunning work. Such a shame there will be no more.

Nice one Brian.

Legends of the Dark knight 192, of those ones.

Also, that was a very good story arc, if I remember correctly.

His art looks French. If he is, isn’t that a reason to hate him out of principle?

The tokyo pop issue with the japanese lunchbox.

I liked the mr freeze cover of that legends of dark knight run better too.

Too bad you can’t show that interior panel where victor’s hair freezes.

There’s no reason to hate all French people. Just Parisians – because they’re rude.

I would have put up one of his Doom Patrol covers.

Wow.

That first GL cover with him in flight is awesome. As in, full of awe am I. Easily my favorite.

As for artists to feature in the future, I’m always a fan of Cary Nord. He’s pretty awesome.

“His art looks French. If he is, isn’t that a reason to hate him out of principle?

Wow, how narrow-minded of you. Plus, you do know the guy died recently, don’t you?

By all means, continue to badmouth a dead man with lots of talent just because his art looks French, even though he is not French.

I’m very proud of you both.

I’ll wager that it was only a joke (a French joke). But if by accident he was French then I would be sorry for him. French people go to Hell after they die. Everyone of them.

It certainly was a joke. As are the French. At least they have same interesting cuisine. Too bad about their history of being overrun by Germany.

Sluggo, I’d suggest you get off your high horse and stop reading into things. If you look for reasons to invent an offense, you might as well not get out of bed because EVERYTHING can be construed as offensive if you try. In face, I think I find your offense at me offensive. :P

The Doom Patrol cover is really great, as was the interior art. The Legends of the Dark Knight story was quite good, an early Batman vs. Mr. Freeze setting, and the interior art was amazing. Seth Fisher was a major talent who will be missed!

And if he did just die, that doesn’t mean his art doesn’t look French. I don’t like the French cartooning style. Am I supposed to not voice my opinion because he is no longer with us?

And France has a long history of giving us reason after reason to hate them. So there.

Fantastic Four/Iron Man: Big in Japan #2! I love the perspective with the giant ape as the focal point.

Did I miss an issue of Doom Patrol?

I thought the regular series artist drew the covers for Fisher’s two fill-in issues, right?

“And if he did just die, that doesn’t mean his art doesn’t look French. I don’t like the French cartooning style. Am I supposed to not voice my opinion because he is no longer with us?

Gee, with such an intelligent, reasoned argument for your opinion (without a hint of revisionism or obfuscation), I guess you win.

Fisher didn’t do the covers for his Doom Patrol issues, which were done by that series’ regular artist (who also kicks major ass) Tan Eng Huat.

You just don’t get it, do ya Sluggo. It’s like I’m talking to my ex-wife. You’re refusing to acknowledge that I’m OBVIOUSLY just being silly. Guess what: not every word that comes from someone’s mouth (or keyboard) in meant to be taken seriously.

Notice also that you’re totally ignoring my post suggesting you stop looking for offence. Case in point!

Lighten up, dude.

What’s with the ‘karate chop’ hands?

I know you’re being silly. Hey, I love a good joke. Which is why I didn’t like your post. It’s not a good joke. It’s a tired, played out old “bash the French” joke.

Next time, come up with something original and I’ll laugh.

And I’m done.

That second Legends of the Dark Knihgt cover is just plain creepy.

Love Big in Japan #2! Great perspective!! and LOTDK # 193!
Can anyone give me the history on this artist and how he died?

“There’s no reason to hate all French people. Just Parisians – because they’re rude.”

That´s a big cliche.

I´ve already went to Paris twice and people were lovely there. I had problems with rude people in Madrid and Roma, but in Paris never.

What a way to go. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seth_fisher

I’ve always liked the Willworld covers to GL, and I just picked up the LODK. I don’t like the style on everything, but it works here.

avengers63, you forgot to use [sarcasm][\sarcasm]. A wiseman once said “Don’t mess with the dead, they have eerie powers.” One of them must be sending overly defensive trolls after you…

I hadn’t heard of this guy until 365 Reasons, so am still unsure of his dpeth of work, but I do like that first Batman snow cover, and the FF ones…..

Frank Quietly!

Am I supposed to not voice my opinion because he is no longer with us?

If your opinion’s rude, then maybe, yeah.

Free speech and etiquette are often at odds, and it’s up to you to choose one when they are. If you choose free speech, then you can’t get defensive when people react poorly.

And he’s right, French jokes are waaaaaaay old, dude.

Based on Bill’s “365 Days” article yesterday I was inspired to order “Big In Japan” and “Snow” from Amazon. I really look forward to reading them and looking at the wonderful art.

I’ve never read a Flash story, but that cover is amazing.

I was going to do this when Bill featured him as a reason, but if you go to this post, you can check out some art from FF/Iron Man: Big in Japan, featuring Fisher’s brilliant sound effects. It’s way at the bottom of the page.

I didn’t realize that Laura Allred did work outside of Mike’s stuff.

Cool.

I always loved that tradepaperback cover for Green Lantern Willworld. It’s just surreal in it’s detail.

Unfortunately, we won’t see more manic great stuff from Mr.Fisher.

Maybe French jokes are old but the will always be funny. I’ve never been in France and never thought much about that country. Only after years of hearing the jokes I have to say that country became ‘interesting’. It exist for that purpose. I’m certain French people love that jokes too.

It was never really about “the French joke” thing, it was just rude, tts all, joke or not.

Anyway, Seth Fisher rocks, Loved his “big in Japan”, awe-inspiring work, esp loved the way he drew iron man. I agree with Ninjawookie too, that tokyo pop cover is absolutely fantastic. Just a real testament to the excellent among of detail and imagination he poured into his work.

MY god. AMAZING art. I can’t stop looking at it. That Green lantern cover. WOW. What an amazing artist he was.

It certainly was a joke. As are the French. At least they have same interesting cuisine. Too bad about their history of being overrun by Germany.

Yeah, that’s much worse than biggest army in the world getting a run for it’s money from VC out of tunnels or a handful of islamic insurgents in a desert.

Anyway, great covers, the Seth Fisher coverage makes me wanna track back a copy of the Willworld paperback.

Call me rude if you want, but I honestly didn’t know he was dead. It was never my intention, nor will it ever be my intention, to disrespect the deceased. I’m quite sure he was a fine man.

I reserve the right to not like his art, though.

This whole thing just got way out of hand for all the wrong reasons. Let’s blame France.

I miss this guy. So sad.

“And France has a long history of giving us reason after reason to hate them. So there.”

Yes. Like helping you people out during your Independence War. If wasn´t for the French, Americans would be speaking english right now… uh, wait..

Brian I’d just like to say thanks for introducing me to an amazing artist i knew nothing about. I really feel I’ve missed out on something here.

Avengers63 sorry to bang on about this but I don’t get it. Was the fact you thought it looked French the joke or was just the mere mention of French ‘sposed to have us rolling in the aisles? If it’s the first what the hell is the French style? How many French creators can you think of apart from the obivious? And if it was the second well, what was the point of that?

“His art looks French. If he is, isn’t that a reason to hate him out of principle?

There’s no reason to hate all French people. Just Parisians – because they’re rude.”

I think you need to re-read my post. I never even suggested I disliked French people or Seth Fisher. I don’t. Fisher is one of my favourite artists, and I’ve got nothing against the French.

I have found Parisians to be rude though.

“That second Legends of the Dark Knihgt cover is just plain creepy.”

What’s so creepy about a guy in a mask and a skintight costume peering anxiously in your window?
what I ask you?

Well obviously avengers63 is such an expert at art (as well as history) that everything that has no spotted blacks looks like it’s ‘French’. It probably reminds him of Tintin, which is Belgian.
As for the French being overrun by the Germans I might recall that they overrun the Germans in 1918. And like somebody said when the ‘most powerful army in the world’ get their asses handed to them by a bunch of insurgents in Iraq, some people better shut their traps…

And remember: not every word that comes from someone’s mouth (or keyboard) in meant to be taken seriously.
