Well obviously avengers63 is such an expert at art (as well as history) that everything that has no spotted blacks looks like it's 'French'. It probably reminds him of Tintin, which is Belgian.
As for the French being overrun by the Germans I might recall that they overrun the Germans in 1918. And like somebody said when the 'most powerful army in the world' get their asses handed to them by a bunch of insurgents in Iraq, some people better shut their traps...

And remember: not every word that comes from someone’s mouth (or keyboard) in meant to be taken seriously.

"That second Legends of the Dark Knihgt cover is just plain creepy."

What's so creepy about a guy in a mask and a skintight costume peering anxiously in your window?
what I ask you?

“His art looks French. If he is, isn’t that a reason to hate him out of principle?

There’s no reason to hate all French people. Just Parisians - because they’re rude.”

Wow, how narrow-minded of you. Plus, you do know the guy died recently, don’t you?

By all means, continue to badmouth a dead man with lots of talent just because his art looks French, even though he is not French.

I’m very proud of you both.

I think you need to re-read my post. I never even suggested I disliked French people or Seth Fisher. I don't. Fisher is one of my favourite artists, and I've got nothing against the French.

I have found Parisians to be rude though.

Brian I'd just like to say thanks for introducing me to an amazing artist i knew nothing about. I really feel I've missed out on something here.

Avengers63 sorry to bang on about this but I don't get it. Was the fact you thought it looked French the joke or was just the mere mention of French 'sposed to have us rolling in the aisles? If it's the first what the hell is the French style? How many French creators can you think of apart from the obivious? And if it was the second well, what was the point of that?

"And France has a long history of giving us reason after reason to hate them. So there."

Yes. Like helping you people out during your Independence War. If wasn´t for the French, Americans would be speaking english right now... uh, wait..

Call me rude if you want, but I honestly didn't know he was dead. It was never my intention, nor will it ever be my intention, to disrespect the deceased. I'm quite sure he was a fine man.

I reserve the right to not like his art, though.

This whole thing just got way out of hand for all the wrong reasons. Let's blame France.

It certainly was a joke. As are the French. At least they have same interesting cuisine. Too bad about their history of being overrun by Germany.

Yeah, that's much worse than biggest army in the world getting a run for it's money from VC out of tunnels or a handful of islamic insurgents in a desert.

It was never really about "the French joke" thing, it was just rude, tts all, joke or not.

Anyway, Seth Fisher rocks, Loved his "big in Japan", awe-inspiring work, esp loved the way he drew iron man. I agree with Ninjawookie too, that tokyo pop cover is absolutely fantastic. Just a real testament to the excellent among of detail and imagination he poured into his work.

Maybe French jokes are old but the will always be funny. I've never been in France and never thought much about that country. Only after years of hearing the jokes I have to say that country became 'interesting'. It exist for that purpose. I'm certain French people love that jokes too.

I always loved that tradepaperback cover for Green Lantern Willworld. It's just surreal in it's detail.

Unfortunately, we won't see more manic great stuff from Mr.Fisher.

I was going to do this when Bill featured him as a reason, but if you go to this post, you can check out some art from FF/Iron Man: Big in Japan, featuring Fisher's brilliant sound effects. It's way at the bottom of the page.

Based on Bill's "365 Days" article yesterday I was inspired to order "Big In Japan" and "Snow" from Amazon. I really look forward to reading them and looking at the wonderful art.

I've never read a Flash story, but that cover is amazing.

Am I supposed to not voice my opinion because he is no longer with us?

If your opinion's rude, then maybe, yeah.

Free speech and etiquette are often at odds, and it's up to you to choose one when they are. If you choose free speech, then you can't get defensive when people react poorly.

And he's right, French jokes are waaaaaaay old, dude.
