COVER THEME GAME

As always, here is the game. I show three covers. They all have something in common, whether it be a character, a trait all three characters share, locale, creator, SOMEthing. And it isn’t something obvious like “They all have prices!” “They all have logos!” “They all feature a man!” etc.

In addition, please note that you must have some familiarity with comic book history to correctly guess these comics. You cannot guess the connective theme just by looking at the covers solely, you must have some knowledge beyond just the covers.

Good luck! This one is a bit tougher than usual, but I dunno, you folks are pretty sharp, so while I may raise it if no one gets it within a week, for now, a cool point to the first person to figure it out!

SNARK FREE CHALLENGE

Who would win in a spelling bee of the following characters? Billy Batson, Franklin Richards, Katie Power, Molly Hayes and Lien Harper?

THE COVER GAME

This week’s game is as follows…

Find me a cover featuring both Artie and Leech on it…

Floating heads don’t count!

And NEW rule! No using those “Every Justice Leaguer/Avenger/X-Men ever!” covers they do sometimes (mostly for anniversary covers)! That isn’t very fun!

Here is an example (which you can’t use! And you can’t use the third issue of X-Terminators, either!)….

Remember, only one cover per commenter!

Good luck!

WHO IS IT?

Remember, tell me who it is and what number clue gave it away!

Who is it?

Well, that’s it for this installment of Snark Free Corner.

Hope you had fun!

Is it Psylocke? If so, I guessed it on #2. Strangely enough, I thought of Captain Britain initially.

Psylocke IS still alive, but I can see the confusion, so I added the “non X-Men related” team bit.

#5 would make me think it’s Darkstar, but I can’t remember what team has a member that uses the Darkforce. The Order? Or maybe the Initiative? And then again, she wasn’t really a member of the X-Men, just X-Corporation Paris…

I figured Northstar or Aurora at #1. #3 was the clincher for Northstar.

Tricky, tricky. I figured it out, but I used Wikipedia to confirm it, so I’ll let people guess rather than spoil it. It’s not anyone mentioned so far.

Magik? Illyana Rasputin? I don’t know, just taking a guess.

ok, I didn’t get this at all until clue 5 and with a lot of help from LanghorneFats answer – but it appears to be
Sunpyre!

Lol, apparently the Who Is It? is too vague… too many mutants have bizarre, convoluted histories.

My guess was Scarlet Witch, but I’m guessing that I’m wrong. I concur with Stephanie: too many convoluted histories.

SFC: I’d go with Franklin Richards. The only other name I know is Billy Batson, and he seemed like a regular kid to me. The son of a genius has to count for something. And Richards has his own robot: H.E.R.B.I.E.

Cover Theme: World Capitals for 1000, Alex.

SOFIA Mantega (Wind Dancer), PARIS Bennett (Exodus), and Lois LONDON (Dazzler’s sis)

The Cover Theme…I agree with the World Capitals. But I also thought it was a hispanic person versus a black person.

Cover challenge – Generation X, issue 7.

Cover Game (Not a great image, but they’re there):

http://image.comicvine.com/uploads/vol/6000/5999/5999-43999-1-daydreamers_150.jpg

And I had it with Illyana at 4, and I’m pretty sure 5 locked it.

Who it is:

Well it’s a girl, so…

Magik – was never a member of the X-men

Aurora – not dead/not officially an X-man/woman

Psylocke – not technically dead

Sunpyre – briefly a member of the X-men, murdered during her tenure with X-Corps, her brother is Sunfire and an extra-dimensional counterpart of hers is a member of Big Hero 6.

5 – Sunpyre.

Cover theme game:

I’m going to go out on a limb and guess that all three include characters who were in books that got cancelled this year: Prodigy is (and Sofia was) in New X-Men, which is apparently set to end after Messiah Complex. Spider-Woman II was in Omega Flight, which was downgraded from an ongoing to a miniseries and likely won’t be seen again. Dazzler is in New Excalibur, which just ended a couple weeks back. I’m probably wrong, but it’s worth a shot.

I’d go with Billy for the spelling bee championship, hes always been shown to be pretty dang smart.

I was thinking Aurora up until #3, then I was thinking Northstar until #5 just completely confused the heck out of me.

Magik. She was a member of the New Mutants which counts as an X-men team.

Magik isn’t currently on another team and I think that if the clue extended to x related teams, it wouldn’t have specifically named the X-men.

Daydreamers #3 for the cover game (since Matthew posted Daydreamers #1 just before I did):

Billy Batson would really be hoping his word was Shazam!

Sorry, Clue #5.

I can’t recall Blink having a sibling.

And why do I keep getting the notice “Sorry, you can only post a new comment once every 15 seconds. Slow down cowboy.” the first time I try posting something?

Technically the character could be Jean Grey, counting Madelyne as the sibling. Last time I checked Jean still had an evil double running around in Excalibur. However, being an evil alternate universe version of the X-Men, that may be too close.

Was Rachel Summers ever killed? She’s an AU mutant former X-Man currently serving on a non-X team.

My guess is Tattoo, alias Longstrike. Formerly an X-Man until she lost her powers. She and her brother are currently serving on the New Warriors team, and she’s been KIA. But I don’t know about #5, so it’s just a guess.

So what are the real answers? Judges?

Oh, sorry, it’s the European capitols one.

What about the Who is it? Was it Sunpyre?

Yep, Sunpyre.

But both the Sunpyres are dead right now. Have been for years, unless I missed something. Plus they’re not really the same character, any more than the Green Goblin from Loners is the same as Norman Osborne.

I’m going to sulk like a five-year-old now.

This Sunpyre is still alive.

Colossus
Piotr Rasputin(i think) the first two gave it away .Ilyana was his mutant sister. And he died trying to eradicate some kinda mutant virus

4get what i wrote i just read clue5…oops
