This was the first Warren Ellis book I ever read (and I think the first Wildstorm I ever read, too), and it still ranks among my favorites.

I remember talking a while back with someone at my LCS, about how some books get delayed so long that you don’t really care anymore when the next issue shows up, or you do care, but it doesn’t live up to your expectations… but we agreed that Planetary had been worth waiting for, every single time.

love this book to death and i didn’t pick it up early on, it had already started when i began to collect (aroung 2000) so i picked it up in trades from word of mouth and waiting for the fourth trade is killing me

Thank you for posting Planetary as a reason to love comics. It is truly one comic that I love and gave to others to read. Not only a play on conventional heroes but the hero genre itself….masterpiece.

Now…if we can only get issue 27.

Um… I didn’t really like the book that much, which is weird, because I love about 90% of the other Ellis stuff that I’ve read. I got Planetary first, and then Down, and then Ocean, and I was really questioning why ANYONE would read his stuff and love it so much. Then I got Transmetropolitan and all was well from then on.

But I found Planetary’s first two volumes kind of lacking in a way. Maybe it was a cohesive running arc (which normally isn’t a problem for me at all), or maybe it was just me looking for something that it didn’t provide. I recognize that it’s a good series, just not something that I found all that interesting at the time.

Maybe I’ll get the Omnibus/Absolute if they re-release it.
