Hey glad you liked Atomic Robo (more or less).

I think its funny that Clevinger and I both read this independently and I was about to comment on the pyramids just like he did.

Briefly -most pyramids are not in Giza. Only those 3 famous/touristy ones. Though if we want to get all historically accurate, considering that our pyramid is 2500yrs older than the ones at Giza it should have been a step-pyramid and much cruder. Despite what UFO nuts tell you, it took the Egyptians hundreds of years and dozens of pyramids to produce the amazing work at Giza.

But we took a little artistic license.

crap Crap CRAP CRAP! CRAP!!!!! I wanted to LOVE Ultimates 3 and tell you how wrong you are. The unenlightened fan boy in me merely says "meh" and waits for the next issue. The informed reader says WTF? and demands that Loeb return to themed books with Tim Sale while Joey Mad sticks with anime. [bold]CRAP!!!![\bold] I also bought Arena, which I would not have bought if not for the reviews. I'm sorely tempted to mail it to Champagne, but instead, I'll just not bag and board it in protest, while it slowly loses value in my back issue box. Maybe I'll sell it to some poor unsuspecting kid and he'll discover the (relatively) rich history of the original characters and become a fan, dispose of Arena #1, and heal the vicious cycle of obsession and self hate.

I haven't read this 30 Days Of Night book, but did notice the "fuzziness" in his section of Sandman:Endless Nights. I thought it had to do with the amount of computer effects used.

Atomic Robo's ending isn't a cliffhanger, it's a JOKE! The whole issue, they're talking about nuking the pyramid, and how Egypt doesn't really want to nuke it, and then Robo does something which he DOESN'T think will blow the pyramid up, and what happens? He blows it up! That's the joke. And the end of the story. He's fine, of course, because he's obviously nearly invulnerable. And I didn't get the final story until I read this. I love this book.

Anyone at all disoriented by the contemporary vernacular of Northlanders should read Wells Tower's short story "Everything Ravaged, Everything Burned." It's a slice of genius and it might make you realize the benefit of avoiding the cliche faux-Shakespearean diction. And, everyone does know the Vikings didn't speak English, right?

Presumably a fan of the Ultimates would think that it was good at some point or they wouldnâ€™t be a fan.

Well I must agree with you on the new ultimates book. Though, wizard has hyped it since well before ultimates 2 wrapped up so I expected it to suck.

It even fails compared to All Star Batman and Robin.

I highly recommend Storm Shadow devils due press written by Larry Hama.

Question about the recent X books, with all the fighting going on, various x people in the last two or three books have mentioned getting the wounded back to the healers. I thought at some point in the X mens horrid last few years Warren was upgraded with healing powers. Did that go away or did the current writing team forget about it?

Also for fairness, Roy Thomas named the explosively-powered Japanese member of Axis Amerika as "Kamikaze" 20 years ago. Goeff Johns is picking that up as much as he's doing anything, sinc emost of the villains in the new JSA seem to be repurposed All-Star Squadron and Young All-Stars baddies..

Greg - Thanks for the review. My reasoning for choosing the mythological characters I did was to a) provide the reader with a quick understanding of what sort of creatures Astrid and co are dealing with, and b) set up those expectations so I can play against them later. Hopefully that'll pay off.

Grant, it was probably obvious to a lot of us that Millar hinted at the SW/QS relationship. Much of the negative reaction is to the current book abandoning subtlety or mystery in favor of announcing the nature of their relationship. It was odd and creepy before, as you seem to know, now it's just gross. Maybe they'll throw us a curveball and say the two aren't siblings in the Ultimate U., but for the time being it looks like a ploy for shock value.

And the writing improved 1000% since issue one. (Which, OK, I thought was Godawful in every respect but the most important - Niles stayed out of Sienkiewiczâ€™s way and let him draw cool.

To be fair Millar was the one who hinted at the incestous relationship between Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. Loeb just came right and threw it our face. Then again the guy who wrote Teen Wolf and Commando isn't really known for his subtlety
