Awesome website you have here but I was wondering if you knew of any forums that cover the same topics discussed in this article? I'd really love to be a part of online community where I can get feed-back from other knowledgeable people that share the same interest. If you have any recommendations, please let me know. Thank you!

Hmm, two winners on the cover theme and neither of them had my guess: All covers featured someone who changed their superheroic identity.

It used to be established that Bruce Wayne went by Robin while as a teen in training.
Batgirl now goes by the name Oracle. Also, that's certainly Dick Greyson, Nightwing, in the Robin outfit on that cover.
Spider-Man once used the Prowler's tech to become the Hornet. For that matter, the Prowler has impersonated Spider-Man at Spidy's request on at least one occasion.

I just sorta cheated and checked Wikapedia. I was curious if Blockbuster ever used a different identity, as that would make it a clean sweep of all characters having used multiple costumes / personas for one reason or another.

And, I found another theme: All covers feature people who know the other's secret identity!

Batman revealed his face to Blockbuster to calm him in an early issue.
Batman, Robin, and Batgirl did exchange identities.
And, Spider-Man knew the Prowler's secret identity. I don't know if he ever shared his own, but if he did the point would be moot now. :-)

As a secondary theme, how about: characters who had a life-or-death encounter with the superhero's civilian identity before meeting the superhero: Bruce Wayne saved Desmond's (Blockbuster's) life; Prowler almost killed Peter Parker by accidentally pushing him out a window; and surely Batman saved Barbara Gordon's life somewhere or other before she became Batgirl (I'm kinda punting on that last one).

Yeah, it's weak, but it's all I've got.

Batgirl, Blockbuster and Prowler have all ended up crippled?
Correct!

Well, except that it was Batman who ended up crippled, not Blockbuster (his brother did end up crippled, though!).

Also, I’m not sure if the part about there being two themes is for real or is just left over from last week. (The “for the first time since I started doing these things” text is definitely a hold-over.)
I did mean for there to be two themes this week, but yeah, I also meant to get rid of the extra text!

I like the 70s with the satellite and Conway, the Giffen/DeMatteis and the Morrison, eras equally.

I think the cover theme is unmasking, as Batman takes off the mask to stop Blockbuster, he is going to take it off for batgirl, and either spidey or the prowler unmasks (don't read spidey much so I am not really sure)

Giffen/DeMatteis Justice League era is my favorite for being so enjoyable, but it's the only one I've read with any frequency.

Hawkworld is good, and cheap to boot. I got the whole run on eBay for less than $10.

Cover Theme: all the covers are drawn by the companies' art directors--Infantino on the Batman covers, Romita on Spider-Man.

Cover theme game: People who have been in teams of reformed criminals.

Blockbuster and Batgirl (as Oracle) were with the Suicide Squad, and Prowler was in The Outlaws (which sounds like it'd be a good name for some WWE tag team...).

I don't think Gerry Conway's JLA gets nearly as much love as it should, particularly in the late '70s and early '80s when he was writing it with Dick Dillin and George Perez. Solid stories with a great sense of the characters and a nice use of the JLA mythos. I only wish he hadn't tried to reinvent the League in the Detroit era.

A very close second would be Grant Morrison-- he kind of does with Gardner Fox in JLA what he does with Mort Weisinger in All-Star Superman, taking the out-there loopy ideas of the silver age comics and making it work for today's audiences.

No Justice League era could ever hope to match the Giffen/DeMatteis League for sheer enjoyable quality.

Funny you bring up Star Wars Legacy, as I actually just started reading it yesterday. I agree that it's really quite enjoyable and suitably epic in a very Star Wars-y way.
