Snark Free Corner for 1/21
Welcome to the latest installment of your breath of snark free air!
Enjoy!
THIS COMIC IS GOOD
The Fellowship of Reconciliation put out about 250,000 copies of this comic in 1956 (plus another 150,000 in Spanish)...

Possibly one of the strongest examples of using the comic book medium to help with social change, this comic, which tried to parse Dr. King's message down for children, might not have had any direct effects upon the civil rights movement, but you have to think that some of the children who read this comic in 1956 took its message to heart, and for that, this is a remarkable comic book.
I wish I knew who produced it. Rumor has it that Al Capp's studio did it, but I cannot confirm that.
COVER THEME GAME
As always, here is the game. I show three covers. They all have something in common, whether it be a character, a trait all three characters share, locale, creator, SOMEthing. And it isn't something obvious like "They all have prices!" "They all have logos!" "They all feature a man!" etc.
In addition, please note that you must have some familiarity with comic book history to correctly guess these comics. You cannot guess the connective theme just by looking at the covers solely, you must have some knowledge beyond just the covers.
A cool point to the first person to figure it out!
Good luck!

Remember, only one cover per commenter!
Good luck!

X-Men Unlimited #37 features many Wolverines.
I can't believe I actually got one of these!

For the "Who Is It," Iron Fist, right? Got it on #2, confirmed by the rest.
And Oliver Queen seems to have the edge over Hawkeye.

Cover theme: Kings: King Hyperion, King Faraday, and Chemical King.

Craig beat me to it and on the same number...
Iron Fist...got it on 2

Iron Fist certainly does match a lot of the clues, but does he match ALL of the clues?

uh-oh...or maybe not...
Marvel.com does not list Captain America as one of his identities...
rats...

For the cover game, Exiles #86 http://www.comics.org/coverview.lasso?id=342277&zoom=4
For Who Is It, I had Iron Fist on #2, but was thrown off by #5. I was thinking Daredevil. When did Iron Fist impersonate Cap?
The Mad Monkey

I thought Daredevil too...but, he didn't partner up with anyone who was in the FF.

Was the Black Widow ever with the FF? Daredevil partnered up with her for a while, didn't he?

What's up with the Wolverine in the lower right of that Exiles 85 cover? Did Logan used to do Shakespeare in the park?

Is it Marvel Boy/Justice? He used to be the Thing's sidekick and I could see him trying ot fill-in for Cap.

Wolverine #40

Not only does this feature two Wolverines, it features a Wolverine on the cover of Exiles #85
I had this issue and loved it. The scene on the cover totally happens in the book. Also, Jubilee chews bubble gum and plays pool with Forge.

I'm betting on Barton. He cheats. And Carny cheating beats mayor cheating.

Regarding the cover challenge:
Wolverine #59, which can be seen at

This was really recent, so I'm surprised no one said it yet.
I also thought the Who Is It challenge was obviously Iron Fist until number 5. Hmmm.

Who is it?
How about The Acrobat?
He teamed up with the Torch as part of The Torrid Twosome and later posed as Cap before his thawing out. It took all the clues and way too much internet time. Here's the Acrobat's entry at the great Appendix to the Marvel Universe:

Wow, I am completely mystified by the Who Is It challenge...at first I thought it was Quicksilver, but then clue five ruined that.
I even cheated and looked at Wikipedia and couldn't find anything...

How is LoSH expulsion the primary concern for murder? What sort of lawless land is the 30th century?

The Iron Fist guessers are right, tho' he imitated Daredevl, not Cap.

So, then they would NOT be right, no?
Brian Cronin

This, on the other hand, IS right.
Was that not the coolest Who is it? ever??!

With clue #3 I was sure it's Iron Fist, but clue #5 killed it. I was about to try Spider-Man, he was the FF member and ot his partner, and I don't about any Cap imprisonating.
I don't even know who The Acrobat is. Looking at his bio, I think that was a damn tricky Who Is It?

Barton would win. Easy.
I can't get the character. My guesses (Iron Fist and Quicksilver) were both blown out by #5.

Oliver Queen would win a race. He spent a year recently training his whole body (he is pretty handy with a sword now too), whereas Clint spent a year being dead recently. Although really, with this Ronin presonality mood-swing, who knows what he is capable of.
What about Wally West vs. Pietro Maximoff in archery?

Well, thank F*** for that. Now I can rot my brain with weekly Spider-Man titles and the return of the X-Force, all in relative peace and comfort. Make mine marvel!

Ollie would win, but he would use a trick arrow, like the power bar/gatorade, jet skates arrow orsomething.
