I don’t have a clue with the cover game. I’m torn on the covert operative game. My vote would be for Nemesis, but I think he’s been dumbed down a bit lately and used for comic relief in Wonder Woman, which casts a bit of a pall.

Oracle isn’t an operative, exactly. She’s more of a director, but probably the best ops director in the DCU.

The Unknown Soldier is a pretty good choice. So is Mademoiselle Marie. Much as I love Chase, I don’t think she’s particularly covert.

Guess my vote’s with Nemesis.

Yeah, I flirted with the Warren thing too, but had the same problem with the crowd scene.

Something that’s true but doubtless not what you’re looking for (because it doesn’t exactly narrow things down): All three covers feature people who are currently in one Avengers line-up or another: Ms. Marvel, Spider-Man, and Wonder Man.

Cover theme game: Characters who can move their minds into different bodies/clones?

Miles Warren has been cloned, killed, and come back a few times.
Sasquatch has died and come back in multiple bodies.
Warren Traveller clones himself using time-displacement spell.

The best covert operative in the DCU has to be Boston Brand (aka Deadman). The guy’s invisible, intangible and basically undetectable and can inhabit anyone’s body at will.

Booster Gold–the world thinks he dumb but he is rocking the heroism on the covert side.

Chase–the DEO agent with the semi-secret power to negate powers. BRING HER BACK, DC!

One might even call the Bat-family covert. Oracle, maybe?

But for a classic spy story, check out Rucka’s CHECKMATE to see how Mademoiselle Marie is rocking the covert ops.

Hmmm Cover theme game: the primary characters in all these book have had their powers substantially changed in some kind of accident.
Thing has lost his powers and been forced to retire/wear a power armor suit (70s); Spidey got those weird avatar powers like the stingers and such; and Ms Marvel was Binary for a while.

Not much of a connection, but best I can come up with.

Best undercover DC operative: Some guiy nobody’s ever heard of or has ever made a comic appearance – which is exactly WHY he’s the best undercover operative. If we all knew who he was, he wouldn’t be undercover, now would he.
