That Detective cover is pretty nice, but in general I think people have had trouble doing the detective side of Batman for decades. He's either getting answers spit out at him from a supercomputer, has villains who deliberately leave him clues to find as part of their motif, a computer hacker Oracle who was just doing all the legwork for him and in between all of those phases just dangling people off building ledges or beating them to make them talk.

But I did like how he gave Cyclops some cool stuble, made him look more like a real person.....

re: Unc X-Men - I thought it was one of Brubaker's best issues...BUT, given all the crap that just happened in the Crossover, it seemed out of place. "Well guys, I know we were just betrayed by one of our members, the messiah baby is gone to who knows where, Prof X is shot and missing and maybe dead, our home has been destroyed, and a bunch of us have been killed. Tell you what, Emma and I are gonna go bang in the Savage Land, you all take care!"

Fables: does the lackluster finale surprise you? Has any Fables arc ended well? They're all good stories...but they all end with not a whimper or a bang, but a mighty "eh".

But, really, who cares? Clandestine is back!

That's about the size of it: it was pretty much the hook of the novels until the porn angle took over. I lasted about 2 books.

Off the top of my head, "Harry 20 on the High Rock" and "DR & Quinch" for 2000AD, and "Marvelman" for Warrior.

Given what I've read about the series, I'm kind of disappointed by the relatively low level of sexual content in the first book. At least the part in one of the later books where Anita gains magic powers that require her to have sex with vampires or werepanthers around 6 times a day might actually be good for a laugh.

I still like Moon Knight a lot. And I think Benson is doing a better job with the relationships between the various characters so far than Huston did.

2. ClanDestine IS awesome. And apparently the book works even for new readers. Chad Nevett and I just did a back and forth on it, and he'd never read any of the previous series and he had no trouble getting into this issue at all. (And Alan Davis does provide a ton of well-placed exposition in issue #1, so I would think a new reader would be able to pick up the gist of things.)

3. I finally dropped Moon Knight. I went back and gave it a second chance, and I kind of didn't hate the Charlie Huston run as much after I re-read everything (until the end--not the very last issue, but the penultimate arc--that was weak), but this new Moon Knight stuff doesn't even have the brutal charm (such as it was) of Huston's stuff. I had to drop it. Keep reading it though, so you can tell us if it ever gets better.

I agree, Tom, about Archaia's schedule. It's very frustrating, because most of what they publish is so good. I hate waiting for it and wish they would get their schedules straightened out.

Choi certainly wasn't as bad as Ramos is on his best day.
