How long (if ever) do you think it will be before Steve Rogers, Tony Stark and Thor are pals again?
those silly boys will be pals looking for frogs and bugs before you know it
Five years at most.
Probably not at least until Steve stops being dead. Corpses don’t make very good chums.
As soon as the next mega-writer comes to Marvel (or the one after that) and wants to write a story with the three as best-buds.
Never. If I can’t forgive Stark, how can Thor & Cap? It *is* real, isn’t it?
Just as soon as Thor joins the Marvel Adventures Avengers, in the only Marvel continuity worth following anymore. Well, that and Mini-Marvels.
Uneasy friendship is a far better way to go than old-buddy-old-chum. Really, Superman and Batman should be thick as thieves, sicne they’re constantly woring together. Yet every single S/B story of the last few years emphasizes how they’re disappointments to each other. Makes for a better story.
I mean, going back to Marvel, who the hell wants to read a Hawkeye story where he’s deferential and accomodating?
What do you think the odds are that Tony Stark would sell his friendship with Steve Rogers to the devil in order to bring him back from the dead?
Hopefully they don’t abort the Bucky Experiment anytime soon.
I think Steve won’t have any trouble forgiving Tony, when he comes back from the dead. Thor will take a little longer, however.
Next ‘Heroes Re-booted’ cycle.
As soon as they launch the third Iron Man title, “Cap and Thor’s Pal Iron Man.”
It certainly would make a great story, when and if they ever decide to go back to a more “classic” iteration of the Avengers…the Big Three hashing everything out before sounding the call to Assemble.
I doubt Rogers will be on speaking terms with Thor again until Thor gives back the chainmail he stole from the Captain America costume.
Corpses don’t make very good chums.
Someone hasn’t seen Weekend at Bernies!
Yeah, these things always bounce back. Remember the Justice League Detroit? DC went back to the classic JLA lineup after only 22 years.
“What do you think the odds are that Tony Stark would sell his friendship with Steve Rogers to the devil in order to bring him back from the dead?”
I would start buying Marvel books by the boatload if they’d do it.
Seriously, in a few years there will be another incredible threat the likes which the Marvel Universe has never seen and only with Tony, Steve, and Thor’s combined help will it be beaten. Forced to work together will rekindle their friendship and THE MARVEL UNIVERSE WILL NEVER BE THE SAME AGAIN!
Probably not at least until Steve stops being dead. Corpses don’t make very good chums.
I find this incredibly intolerant.
How long until John Walker, Eric Masterson, and James Rhodes are friends?
How about Elijah Bradley, Billy Kaplan, and Nathaniel Richards?
Two years four months two weeks one day thirteen hours twenty five minutes four seconds.
How about when Hell freezes over?
Gawd, I really, really, hope not. The unholy three makes for bad story-telling.
Probably during Secret Invasion. I think Bendis has already said this will be the series that brings the heroes together.
The cynical answer: Whenever Marvel’s editorial staff decides that they’ve played out the string on the “Civil War aftermath”. ‘Civil War’ made it pretty clear that to these guys, characterization serves the needs of plot…so if the plot requires Iron Man, Cap, and Thor to be best buddies again, they’ll forget all about the whole “outlawing super-heroes, making a vicious murderclone of one of your oldest friends, then beating up the other and sending him to jail where, due to inadequate security procedures you supervised, he was shot and apparently killed” thing.
If we’re lucky, there’ll be a sequence that pays lip service to why they forgive each other, but really, there’s no way it’s ever going to be believable.
iron man: Sorry boys, but it was manipulated why skrulls…
Thor & Cap: Oh… okey dokey
mmm… i think you wanted to say:
Iron man: Sorry boys, but I was manipulated by the skrulls…
Not long enough to keep the Blogosphere from going “Hmmm, that didn’t take long” when it does.
Given how Brubaker is using Stark in Cap’s own title, the only reason they didn’t went back to be best pals after Civil War was Steve unfortunate current condition.
I think they’ll eventually make up. They just need something to bring them together. Oh, and Steve would have to come back.
um…i’m hoping bucky is cap for a long time. i didn’t think cap exactly went out in a blaze of glory (as befitting a hero of his magnitude) but the stories told in the wake of his death have been very well handled.
what i’m saying is, bucky and stark will be friends before steve rogers is brought back to life. dunno about thor…
I think that book is already on the schedule. It’s due out for Valentine’s Day next year and will be Marvel’s first Yaoi comic.
