Rucka Giving a Nice Take on Exclusivity

Greg Rucka gave an interview the other day at Newsarama about teaming up with Ed Brubaker again for an arc on Daredevil, and I really enjoyed the take he seems to be giving on exclusivity. A guy like Greg Rucka does not NEED to be exclusive to any one company - he is in demand from all circles, and the monetary need is not as great (while I would imagine the whole "you get benefits" thing would be a HUGE draw for other creators), so he is taking it as "I am going to work on stuff that I want to work on, regardless of company."

I dig that attitude. I think it results in a lot better comics than "Well, I'm exclusive to ___, so I guess I have to write Flagship Title A or B."

Mike Allred had a good and similar take on exclusivity. I'm trying to dig it up.

Whatever, I'm just glad he's free to do what he wants and can work for both DC and Marvel. Teaming up with Brubaker is just one of the benefits.

As long as he still writes Checkmate, I'm happy.

Ah yes, about that....
