The Jack of Fables “cover” is just something interior artist Tony Akins drew on a Tablet just because they needed something for the solicitation art. He admits it’s sloppy and that he’s not used to the stylus.

And, yeah, James Jean does new covers for every Trade Paperback he does of Fables.

Wow, tons of good covers this month, as in ‘getting me excited about comics again’ covers. This and the previous Young Liars covers are enough to ensure I’ll pick up a book I know nothing about and by creator whose work I’ve never read. They’re just so new and kinetic, yet strangely retro.

As to the Starlin Superman? I think he’s just happy and angry, like Ralf Wiggum.

You’re right. It was a Punisher storyline. I believe that the “Eurohit” storyline used a similar motif.

That is probably the best Catwoman cover since the police line-up with the lost numbers. The story has never been bad exactly, but I buy the title pretty much for the covers. Can’t wait.

Harvey Pekar has said he thought the movie American Splendour portrayed him and his wife as much better-looking than they really are. I don’t know about his wife, but when you’re complaining that Paul Giamatti is unrealistically good-looking, you have self-image problems. Anyway, I think that’s the joke of the American Splendour cover.

While Wonder Girl’s butt shot was a missed oppurtunity on the Teen Titans cover, I noticed a new trend this month. Gen 13, New Dynamix, and even Looney Tunes all feature male characters showing off their butts. I’m kidding. Mostly.

Y’know, I really like that you address the kids-friendly books (Scooby-Do, Cartoon Network Action Pack, and the like). Plus, it’s fun to see the covers.

The Jack of Fables cover…if it is a cover? Awful.

And you, my friend, roll over pretty easily for Adam Hughes cover art. This month, though, it was warranted. I’d have placed Catwoman in the top 5.

Greg, the real problem for me with the Gen13 cover was less the “well-endowed” nature of the female character and more the blatant camel toe on her. It’s rare that a comic cover can make me feel like I’m looking at a porno movie cover, but this one pulled it off for me.

According to Marc Andreyko, Manhunter is due to start back up later this year. He has issues #31 and 32 written, and was working on the script for #33 on the last blog post of his I read a couple weeks’ back. He’s been teasing that DC is giving him a fairly well known artist this time around too, but won’t say who just yet.

Superman is showing “wacky rage”; picture him as an incidental character in a big budget comedy who’s been seen being excessively fussy over his new car, frantically wiping off finger smudges, etc. Now, following a brief sequence in which he’s stopped a bird from shitting on it, the main plot of the film has returned as the protagonist’s (now unoccupied) RV has gone sailing off of an unfinished highway overpass, landing on and crushing Superman’s car.

Kamandi #1 cover? I don’t see why it warrants it. Hughes’ Catwoman was much more memorable. Besides, if I see a decapitated or waylaid Statue of Liberty head one more time, i’m cryin’ FOUL. It’s done. Don’t do it anymore.

And Midnighter should be docked for flagrant use of Ugg boots on a cover. Phew.

In that Gen13 cover, doesn’t the female (whoever she is) look a bit … well-endowed a bit? Is there something we don’t know about the WildStorm heroes?

And that Catwoman cover … Selina ripping Cheetah’s lips off with her teeth just freaks me out.
