If Donna Summer and Four Tops recorded it, I guess you can't call it a white thing. I thought it was along the lines of a Bob Dylan reference, which I can never get unless they are ridiculously obvious.
MacArthur Park was also voted the worst pop song ever in Dave Barry's Bad Song Contest, back in the '90s. It may have been surpassed by now (I'm looking in your direction, Cheetah Girls).

I still think it works better as a laxative ad.
"Constipation - Kryptonite isn't the only thing that takes the Man of Steel out of commission!" Brought to you by Ex-Lax.

Wow. I honestly thought MacArthur Park was some sort of universal reference.

Donna Summer had a bit hit with it! But yeah, Richard Harris was the original singer.

Wow. Macarthur Park, existence 100% justified, by cape comedy. Well done, boys!

I only get it because of the Weird Al parody based on a certain dinosaur film. Which makes me somewhat less old, but substantially geekier.

That's really quite clever; perhaps that's the best way to explain what emotion the artist was going for.
MacArthur Park is also one of my guilty pleasures.

Damn you Donna Summer, YOU WIN AGAIN!!!
On the plus side, it's good to see that Superman takes his karaoke seriously!
